8 clutches and steels in the direct drum???

I am doing a rebuild on my 200r4 and when I got to the direct drum and removed the clutches it had 8 clutches and 8 kolene steels. It was previoulsy rebuilt using parts from California Performance transmissions. The clutches and steels are all about .050 give or take. How does it have more than a normal amout of clutches and steels? How thick is a normal clutch and kolene steel? Thanks for the help. Thanks

normal in that drum are either .077 or .09 i can't remember. You can mix and match to get the clearance right to install extra clutches but most tend to believe its not beneficial since the steels will become thinner and have more of a heat issue not letting the clutches grab.

That is a Red Eagle (Alto) Power Pack CPT uses. They are 62 thick to start.
Really, the steels are a bit thin in that application for many builders as the steels aid to remove heat from the pack.
The 62 thickness is how they are able to pull that off.
