Why is the 87 listed as having 10 more hp and 25 ft lbs torque than 86 tr's on GN/ttype.org??? I thought they were the same exact setup.

this has be rehashed a million times
the hp ratings were held down because gm didnt want any other vehicle showing up its precious corvette
in87 the corvette hPwent up so the GN was allowed to publicly announce a higher hp than in 86

Anyone have stock car hp and tq numbers? With today's gas and chip?...just wondering..Mike

210whp with the converter unlocked 65 degrees at sea level. Stock air box and stock chip. Factory non adjustable wastegate 28k mile car. Today's 93 octane. Same as 1987 93 octane as far as knock resistance. Today's would likely make a little more power since it would lean out the mixture more. I can't recall the tq. I think it was low 300's

Because the 87s are stronger in hp, tq, and appearance over the 86s. A little known fact is that the blackness of the paint is darker on the 87s as well. FLAME SUIT ON:D

Hmmm. That kind of jives with the rumor that they were more like 270HP / 370TQ at the motor.
