Seriously.....I got mad enough to grab my papers from her and tell her she was nucking futs! Even with a Military Exemption Non-Resident form to not pay state tax. Tell me I am dreaming! Do any of you folks pay that much, even for NEW cars?

that is quite high.

i just registered 2 turbo regals last tuesday and i screwed up by giving them the bill of sale-

new law states that we dont have to have a bill of sale, then they assess the value of the car.

one was assessed at 8000.00 cost me 700.00 to register it, one was assessed at 602.00 cost me 520.00 to register it.

but then again, i purchased the last car in 1998 and most of the 520.00 was back taxes. WHOOOPS!

what i should have done is NEVER gave them the bill of sale for the first car, then they would have assessed the car at 602.00 :(

i took 1250.00 just in case, and walked out the door with 29 bucks and change :(

most of yours was personal property tax wasnt it?

No, she said that the car just was that much.......Bill of Sale seller and I agreed to put 1,500 bucks on it. When I showed it to her, she saw that I had a lien on the car, total cost of loan was 11,500....but I told her that it was all for parts. Even seeing that the Bill of Sale was for $1,500, she said that the price is high because of the area we live in. Turns out, we live in a 7.6% area. You can do the math, but 7.6% of 1,500 is NOT 942 sheckles!

WOW!

I registered the WE4 , cost total of $38.00
and its $16 per yr there after!
but thats Arizona, land of nuthin, must be why everyones moving here! go figure!

sorry, but just had to gloat, it the only thing we have to brag about. ( besides all the meth labs)
But I still love it here, been alot of other places, but keep returning back here.

thanks

They are charging you sales tax on $11,500 plus registration. You need to either document that you paid $1500 for the car and that the loan for $11,500 is cross collateralized with something else or bite the bullit and pay the fees. If yo paid $11,500 for the car you really owe that amount. If you have to pay the fees, sales tax may be tax deductible this year.

have someone write a note saying that is was a gift, write one dollars for on the note for the price of the car and pay nothing but registration fees or trasnfer fees to put it under your name..

In Florida I know you don't pay taxes on an even trade. :) I traded a propane heater for my last turbo Buick. ;)
