Do you need to evacuate the AC system to change the Clutch cycling / low pressure switch?( the one on the side of the Accumulator)
I believe mine is no good. The system is full and the comp clutch locks up if I jumper the connector. When plugged in I can get the clutch to lock up if i wiggle the connector just so but it won't shut off.
I was wondering if there I a shrader valve behind the switch,
Andrew

The switch has a schrader valve under it and will keep the charge safe. No need to discharge it unles you need to do other repairs.;)

Ok thanks

ok swapped switch with my other TR but clutch doesn't unlock now. do I need to adjust the set point? I have about 55 psi on the low side. did I over charge or can I adjust the switch to make it cycle? which way should I adjust? I gave 1/2 turn either direction and still no unlocking.
Andrew

Don't mess with it. The only reason the clutch should cycle is low pressure in the system. This happens either with a low charge or low outside temps.;)

hummm I thought the compressor sucks down the low side until the pressure got low enough and unlocked the clutch. is it ok if the clutch stays locked up all the time? Ive always see AC clutches locking and unlocking.(cycling)

If the temp is low the overall pressure is low. If the temp is higher the pressure is higher overall. The cycling switch is is set at a specific pressure that doesn't vary so if it's hotter out (higher pressures) the switch won't reach the point that the clutch will cycle.;)
