the ac is being removed is there an advantage to using a ac delete pulley or can i just run a smaller belt?

I may be wrong but I don't think the stock tensioner would work correctly without a pulley in the the A/C location...just get the A/C delete pulley...they are cheap...

I personally don't car about air because I never used it and it just a bunch of crap in the way that makes it harder to work on and the condenser blocks airflow to the radiator. You can't just use a shorter belt if you want to be able to use the stock tensioner.

so it will work with a stock belt conifguration just s shorter belt correct?

i am the same way all 4 of my past cars had no ac which i took out for ease of working on it plus cleanliness and the fact i never ever used my air condition and that its an 87

Yes...got my belt from NAPA...has to take 2 home as they were close on length...then brought back the one I didn't use...
