Aight heres the deal guys. I got an 86 GN, Just did the spring cleaning. I got 340 fuel pump and accufab FPR on order will be here thursday. This is my mods Atr 3inch Downpipe, 3 Inch exhaust, powerplate, k&N filter, Mag 4 chip ADJ wastegate, and VDO boost guage. I'll be running slicks and some 110 octane race fuel. How much boost you guys think I can turn it up to with stock injectors? I know I really need like some blue tops, but don't have the money before sunday. Oh its got the double roller going in tomorrow. I hate that I can't get injectors yet, and I don't have a scan tool . New O2 sensor though

DON'T go racing and turn up your boost yet unless you're a gambling man...

turning up the boost with No scan tool + NO knock gauge = Blown head gasket.

You need a scan tool and knock gauge if you're gonna tune the car & want to turn up the boost.

My advice - don't go over 16lbs until you can monitor your engine.

I'll support the 16lb max idea above with the stock injectors. Double the bet and set it up after you have Blue tops or 009's and a matching chip.

I would not even consider racing without a scan tool {scanmaster} I also would consider when the time has come to go right to the 50# injectors. I ran bluetops for quite a few years and changed up to 50s. Best move I ever made! The car starts better, idles better, and runs much better. The 50s will give you a little more room to evolve also. 50s and a Casper chip was the missing link in my receipe!

Well, I wouldn't recommend this but with my 1989 Turbo T/A I had the following mods:
- 3" THDP
- Thrasher 92 chip
- No cat

It came with a factory adjustable wastegate rod and I cranked up the boost to 20lbs. according to the stock gauge. It had 12,000 miles on it at the time so the engine was still relatively new. I ran 110 exclusively and had NO problems. The car was a monster considering the few hundred bucks of mods done to it. The best it ran was a 12.93 @104mph on stock street tires and no tampering with the tire PSI. I drove it home with the A/C on that day.

In your case, I wouldn't worry if you know your car. The ultra high octane fuel is great insurance against knocking. Will it completely prevent it...no, could it....yes. Some on the TTA email list I subscribed to weren't comfortable with my not having a scan tool but other serious racers and a couple others in the petroleum industry weren't concerned with my arrangement as I wasn't.

I wouldn't sweat it.
