I need help on deciding what injectors and turbo to run on my car - here is what I have done with my motor - stock block .010 over - je pistons - childs and albert gapless top ring - turbonetics crank and rods - rotating assembly has been balanced - arp fasteners - gridle - champ 1 cast iron heads - heads have been ported and polished - intake has also been ported to match heads - cam is a 210/210 comp cam. any tips would be great - this is my first turbo powered car - so dont laugh. I have been reading and studing alot about em.
thanks

Need more info...

Like, what times to you expect to run? Is the car a daily driven car, weekend warrior, show queen, or drag strip dominator?

You turbo needs to be matched with your converter. If you have a stock converter and plan on running 11s at the track and drive your car frequently I'd suggest a TA-49 or TE-44 with some 009s or 50# injectors. Also, before ou add a turbo and injectors make sure you get your car running correctly first then upgrade and don't add too much at once. Since you said this is your first Turbo car, make sure you have a good scantool and you tune for zero knock!

The only thing I can say is don't go too small, you'll regret it later. It sounds like you've layed the ground work for a pretty decent turbo combo (unlike me, putting the cart before the horse). I would suggest taking a look at the "Performance Recipes" at Turbobuick.com to help you make a more informed decision.

I went with a TA49 and I guess with my particular setup it was a good turbo for the job, but I myself am looking to move up. You can see my post for Looking for turbo upgrade advice. I picked a couple brains and got some good feedback.

Good Luck!

ok - as far as times or how fast - it dont matter to me. altho I live 3 miles from us 41 dragway - It will prolly never see the tree or lanes. What I want is a lil better than stock drivable car (thats what I say now - lol).there atre not very many gn in this area - closest I believe is about 60 - 80 miles away - so I would like for ppl to see my car and say wow - very nice etc. you guys know what I mean. anyway - I need to check on the range of the cam to decide on the convert. the tranny itself will have a few mods - friend that builds tranny is building it for me. as far as getting the car running right - I will have to buy all the stock stuff seeing that when I bought the car it didnt have anything in it but the short block and tranny - both need to be rebuilt. But I only gave 2500.00 for it.:D So instead of buying all the stuff twice - I would rather buy what would work best for my combo and go from there. I dont live to from from percision turbo in hebron (mr joe lubrant) so I might have his group tune the car for me. so in short - I want to go fast with class. is that enuff info for you?

PTE is a good company to get info and parts from. Call and talk to Pat, he has a Turbo buick that Hauls. Tell him your engine mods and he can set you straight. I got my turbo and injs. and front mount from them and talked to Pat every time.

all I have to say is yeah right - I asked a simple question and only 2 ppl have even offered to help. well - I think that I have been lied too. ppl on this site dont wanna help - they think it is below them to share there experience with. but thats fine - I'll do it on my own. this isnt the first car I have ever built - just the first turbo car. if it blows - I'll jus gut it and build a 10 second bbc powered gn. makes no difference to me!

You know I'm sitting here reading this thread, and I'm thinking about what advice to give you (this is the first time I've seen this one) And then I see this Crap...It's been a couple of days and you just give up..Be patient, you haven't even told us how fast you want to go...BUT now that you're being a an ass I'm not going to make any suggestions, cuz that was crap. (you know not everyone checks this board everyday)

well - thanks but no thanks. the car is goin out back and sittin - I'm going back to work on my 70 chevelle ss.

Well, you do that...And hopefully someone from this board will come out and kick your Chevelle's ass.

Now I'm pissed because I wasted my time answering your question. You obviously didn't even take the chance to read it or answer the questions I asked you.

First of all, your post was up a whole 24 hours then you get mad because of what exactly? You got a reply. Then when I asked how fast you wanted to go you gave some vague answer about driving on the street. That is after I just told you good turbos for the street. Maybe we should give Joe a heads up before this fruitcake steps into his shop.

My suggestion: Sell your car because you are not worthy!

bishir - i thought I answered your question - if I didnt - this is what I want out of my gn. I do not want a track dominator - what I want is a little faster then stock gn that is a nice example of what a gn should be. as far as what I have done with the car so far I have no idea what it should do. remember this is my first turbo powered car- so I can not tell you what I am expecting out of it. with what I've done so far - I think it should be a lil better then a stocker. the trans is being built by a friend who builds race prepped tranny - he has my spec card for the cam - said he would get the appropiate converter - I think he said a 2800 stall. he has talked me out of the trans brake tho. as far as a scan tool - I jus ordered a scanmaster v2.1. supoose to plug into the computer somehow.
now as for getting mad - wasnt really mad - jus been working on this car / motor for 9 months - researching different things motor suspension so on and so forth - jus lost patience - really want this car running - spent way to much so far and it has not even spun over yet and to look at it in the shop and it looks the exact same as when I bought it.

thanks

Well then, here is my suggestion since you want a street car with good performance. Get a TA-49 from Mike at www.fullthrottlespeed.com He sells em at a great deal. Especially if you buy it with a downpipe. Since you live so close to Precision you should just order from Mike and pick it up from Precision since I think that's where his turbos come from. When I checked it was cheaper that way.

Then you can choose from 42.5 or 50# injectors. Personally, I'd get 50s just in case you need em later on. The TA-49 should rip on the street with a 2800 stall. My car is a daily driver and the TA-49 has excellent street manners. It will really come alive if you can afford a alky kit to run higher boost.

Since you're building your car don't forget you'll also need to upgrade your fuel pump and get some sort of adjustable fuel regulator. Racetronix makes a great plug and play pump with hotwire kit. Last I checked it was $139.

I don't know what you have in your Chevelle, but the above will make your car capable of destroying most of them.

Glad to help! Just remember we get a little touchy too! :p

the car came with a aeromotive fuel pump and regulator with a hot wire kit.

chevelle is going back to a stock ls6 - rebuilding it off the original build sheet - jus a trailor show queen. hope a stock gn would beat it

What's with all the hostility? I know I tried to help as much as I could (me being a rookie myself) and it's just like another guy said, not everybody reads these on a daily basis, you have to have some patience. Back to your subject: I referred you to my post "Looking for turbo upgrade advice" so you could see my setup and OTHERS ADVICE. If you are looking for a notch or two above stock my setup works real nice. By the way, I had 4 Chevelles (64/69/70/72) Back in 1986/87 I used to run neck & neck with the GN's. I've wanted on ever since. Well, anyways, good luck and I hope you can chill your attitude or knowbody will care to help you.
