i have 02 f250 lariat 7.3 the thing is a beast,no problems i have a chip,programmer and a tune and get 23.6 mpg in high performance mode

I have a 01 ford f-250 superduty 7.3 and a 02 dodge 3500 cummins, both have served me well over the years. Today i just bought another ford diesel with a bad motor, these older trucks(ford) can have the new front end swapped to make look like a 2010 truck, its the same truck with new wrapper but the old motor is good.

The new ones cost alot more, but the old ones aint too bad either.

I would buy a chevy, but it would have to be the right truck, some of them are expensive to repair.

Take it easy Bo, and happy early birthday 09-21 me too. :)

D max will haul A$$ and pull my bros work truck is an 05 with 150k my 02 8.1 is a gas hog but has 271k about to hit 272k  GMC

What are the best websites for these trucks? I may end up buying from a message board.

Happy early B-day to you to Bryan. :)

Dodge trannys do suck. Always been GM. Bought a 3500 cummins dually. Tranny let go 15 min from LV dragway. I'll never get out of this truck, what I got into it. If I find a good duramax, the Dodge is gone.

I got a 03 duramax. It's a great truck. I only have the juice for a mod and it's fast enough for me. Anything over adding 100hp you need to get into tranny work and I'm not spending that kind of money on my truck. It will make buying a billet 200r4 look like a joke.

I haven't replace 1 thing on it, but its only got 100k on it. You need to watch out for injectors on the older duramaxes. I run a secondary fuel filter, so I think that's helping me. I have owned the truck since new.

A site for duramax info would be dieselplace.com. Just do a search under powerstroke or cummins forums and you will get a list of them.

Good luck with your search and I would stick with GM if it was me.

How many miles? EVERYONE I have seen had to have hg's and inj's replaced...

38's:eek::biggrin: Where the chrome TT2's:biggrin:

The mega cab option is coming back in the new body style dodges. They cancelled it in half ton pickups for good and it was temporarily unavailable on the heavy trucks, but I am 99% certain they announced it will be coming back either 10' or '11 model year. I think we have one ordered right now. Come to think of it I believe we had one already and dealer traded it. I've been on a long trip in the back of one and I loved it. Only problem is the turning radius.

Dodges rust faster? Around here the 99-07 gms are rusting like crazy. Granted, anything will rust if not taken care of, but GM seems to do it faster around here.

It's true.
2009 Dodge Ram pickup trucks

"The mega cab is being replaced by a conventional crew cab, but the 2500 and 3500 models still have mega cabs and leaf-spring rear suspensions in the 2009 model year. After that, the 2010 heavy duty models will keep their leaf springs but drop the mega-cab for a standard crew cab. Chassis cabs will change to the new look in 2011 but will keep the leaf springs and gain a crew cab."

The trucks were new Mega Cabs google it. I take my your right post back lol.:)

its all about the powerstroke, dodge's tranny's suck

Your 7.3 powerstroke doesn't make enough power to take out the transmission.

It would seem that a few old issues gave the Dodge transmission a bad rep. I've been very involved in a few of the dodge diesel builds and it would seem that there isn't a better transmission out there when you start turning up the power. I built a few with only a torque converter, billet input shaft and shift kit and they are well into the low 12's. Like any diesel truck/transmission, a good shift kit and low stall converter wakes up the truck and helps the transmission live. The Cummins engine is very powerful and takes modifications very well.
