Which pump are you asking about? I know Aeromotive makes an intank replacement pump. Racetronics was using them in their upgraded dual intank pump setup.

It looks like an A1000, I have one myself. It's designed to be an external pump although they say it's fully submersible. It wouldn't fit in the stock tank without serious modification and I don't know what the advantage would be. I'd suggest you run a dual intank pump setup. You can run the 2nd pump on a hobbs switch to come on around 10 lbs boost. If you get to a higher H.P. level later you can upgrade the line sizes and run both pumps at the same time. Another possible option would be to add a sump to the stock tank and run the pump externally if you already have it.

Straight off aeromotives site.....

Billet Speed Pump Controller (P/N 16306) recommended for EFI street applications

For long term driving applications where continuous run times exceed 30
minutes and fuel capacity is less then 10 gallons, Aeromotive recommends the
installation of a Fuel Pump Speed Controller to maintain lower fuel

temperatures in the tank. See Aeromotive Fuel Pump Speed Controller 16306.

Any problem with it overheating with it not being submerged?

The car I have currently had this pump installed when I bought it. I can't say for certain how long it's been in service although it appears well used. I can tell you for sure it's obnoxiously noisy. Submerging it in the tank might improve longevity and would probably make it quieter but the install would be difficult. I think the pictures Gerry posted illustrate that.

We installed an Aeromotive Eliminator pump submersed in a stock replacement replacement tank for a 700 HP street Regal, not noisy at all. :)

Here is the pump: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/aei-11104/overview/

The pump was mounted in the tank and metal line were used as we did not trust rubber lines sitting in E-85.

A new Regal tank w/o the baffle was used and an access panel was fabricated for the tank.
