I'm leaning towards using alky injection as 110 octaine is 5.25 a gallon here...so..what works good..i've seen smc and a progessive kit....comments?

I'm sure others will chime in but I bought Razors progressive kit because of the stealth factor and the ability to run insane boost numbers on pump gas. Unfortunately, I don't have it installed yet as I am a moron when it comes to wiring things and don't want to muck up the install. Waiting for a buddy of mine to lend a hand. With race gas as expensive as it is now I probably won't go back to the track until I get the PAC kit in.

Razor's Progressive kit is great. I haven't been able to do much tuning with it yet except for one night or so, but I was able to add 4 degrees of timing and up the boost to 20 lbs. Plus, his customer service is excellent.

with 93 octaine and alky what would be the max boost? I'm running 26lbs on 110 now...

You can run as much boost as you want with alky. 26 lbs is no problem. I'm set to run 24-25 lbs on both my TRs. I run a diy kit and have done so for over 5 years. Race gas is unnecessary. However, Razor's progressive kit includes all the bells and whistles, in car controller, is top quality parts and fittings, w/ stainless braided lines and is well thought out.

SMC Rocks

I saw 28 lbs of boost with 93 0ctane and my SMC digital progressive. 780's and 1.2 degrees of knock. I have SMC on both my GN's. I love the ease of installation and you can easily hide the bottle on a home fab bracket behind/under the pass. headlight. The kits come with everything you need including the lube. If you plan on installing behind the headlight ask Mike for a longer hose. ;)

SMC is great

I installed SMC kit about 2 weeks ago and it runs like stink. Running a 93 PTE chip from the old set-up and @19-20 psi, I can't keep the car straight. It really cranks. Friends have both Razors and SMC, they will do the same. Go w/the best deal and time frame for delivery. I've had great phone serv from Steve (smc) and I know from e-mails that Razor is the same. Good Luck, Tom.
(stink still means fast!!)

The most I could ever run on 93 octane was 16lbs. I can run 25lbs on my DIY kit but I try to keep it to around 23lbs.

what about the economics of the kit...500 for the kit...$2 a gallon or more for methonal, and $2.40 a gal for 93 octaine....seems like 110 just might be about the same,if you use the car occasionally...

Are you serious? :)
What about lead fouled plugs and 02 sensors, and not being able to pick up racegas in the middle of the night? Granted running the denso 02 or the heated 02 help, but personally i would rather have my car setup to be fast all the time and not get caught with my pants down without the correct fuel...

I picked up 10 gallons of meth over 2 months ago, still havent ran out! Heck, ive given at least 3 gallons of it to friends...

Factor in 3 months of serious racing, how many gallons of Racegas would you go thru? I bought a 55 gallon drum of turbo blue years ago, i used it on my car and hardly ever got to drive it because i didnt want to use that expensive fuel to drive much on the street... Running racegas sure kept down the detonation, but my car wasnt fast DURING THE SUMMER HEAT!

thats the biggest benefit of running meth, you can make the same horsepower all the time no matter how far in between the runs you make...

I hate to beat a dead horse, but here are 3 pulls i made on a dyno just last week, it was 106° inside the dyno room and 3 pulls were all done within 10 minutes of each other. The horsepower didnt fluxuate at all when the boost was set the same,.. read the thread.... I LOVE MY METH...

You'd have to be crazy to spend $500 on an alky. kit.

Get in on a group purchase or build one, ie. DIY.

ummmm here we go :D Razor's all the way . But for all the people who want to experiment there are several DIY "kits" ... ohhh why would someone run a 70 turbo and a converter just to run 11's :p

Because the converter is a 3200 stall.

And the other 11 second car is the SMC kit and a PTE 51.

Not to mention the 70 turbo is by the new darling of TSM the Innovative brand. :)

SMC kit is very easy to tune to go fast and no replacing 30% of your fuel either.

Hope it don't cost $500 too. Mine certainly didn't.

And you don't have to tune with your headgaskets either. :p

I have SMC's kit and i like it. Its effective and simple and you can find em used at a good price. 25lbs of boost @ 26* timing. Cant beat that :D

Just got my Razor kit yesterday from Full throttle. I thought I ordered the SMC kit from the website, but when it arrived, it was the Razor kit. I'm actually glad I got the razor kit. The Smc was a little cheaper but Razor's has a few more options and the 3-bar MAP that can be used for other apps. As far as price, I love a good deal as much as the next guy (used or group buys) but for something like this I didn't want to take chances. I also believe that we are lucky to have vendors and people to make this stuff available to the limited numbers of TR owners out there and will therefor support them whenever possible.

Can't wait to turn up the boost!

RAZOR's

Got mine half way installed no problem at all. Just follow directions and a little common sense. I feel this is the best kit for the sheer simplicity of it. You guys that have the ability to do a DIY set up more power to you, I wish I had the skill. Considering the first class parts and service from Razor I do not think you can go wrong with his kit. Just IMO. :D

I have the SMC but i got it used and at a GOOD price. Razor uses a higher pressure pump I believe so for me (700+ rwhp) that much alky potential would make me lean towards his kit if buying new. Steve has offered me very good customer service at SMC as I hear Razor does as well. So hopefully that clears it up...we have at least 2 great kits to choose from and cant go wrong either way.
