Im looking at getting a stock 75K GN only upgrades are Dynomax exhaust, hot wired 307 fp,adj fp reg, Thrasher 92,vc breathers and I plan on putting on a translator with LT1 maf that I have laying around. How well would this car perform if I just put an alky kit on it and turn up the boost??? Tuned of course. Not looking at putting on dp or anything.Want to leave the car stock but I also want performance. Thanks

I knew youd say that Julio:D . My plans are to drive the car from Birmingham to Miami with a detour by your place to buy alky kit and have it installed/tuned.Sound good???Also ill be using a power plate.Julio I know your car is pretty much stock too and performs REALLY well. How much boost can I expect to run??? Any idea on 1/4 mile times with stock downpipe and street tires??? Id like this car to be stock but set on kill whenever needed( high 12s in the 1/4 is cool). Is this obtainable??Thanks for the input and ill be calling you in the next few weeks Julio.

I have a mostly stock 87 GN with alky. Stock turbo....injectors....IC....etc.

I love the performance boost I get with Alky.

Question....I too run a power plate. With the added cooling effects of alky do I still need the power plate?

I have been thinking of removing it as it is a restriction but if that would be bad I will leave it in.

Do you still run the stock DP??? Thats what im thinking will limit me. Id leave the power plate on I doubt its doing any harm. How much boost are you running on alky???

No, I have a Poston's 3" DP and ATR 2.5 dual SS system with Pitt Bulls.

I don't usually go WOT as it scares me but when I do the needle shoots up to 23ish :-)

Zero knock.

Aahhhh. What im really wondering is how much the stock dp is gonna hold me back. 23 PSI would be very nice on pump gas,im just wondering how much is gonna be left on the table with virtually stock exhaust and only fuel/boost upgrades.

Not sure. To be honest..... I really didn't notice any performance change when I add the 3" dp.

Biggest change was looseing the stock muffler (rusted pipes) and cold air kit.

That woke the car up a lot. I had to add alky to keep up with the increase in air. I could not keep my boost down to where I wasn't knocking.

So I guess ill be looking to run between 21 to 23 lbs of boost then.Any ideas on 1/4 mile performance??? The car im looking at also has a test pipe.

I have not been to the track with the car the way it is now :-(

The butt dyno told me it was a pretty substanial improvement!!!

Do you have or will you be getting a cold air kit? That helped things a lot.

Yea ive got a homeade cold air kit/maf pipe that puts the K&N behind the headlight that ill put on the car when I get it.Anyone else??

i didn't notice much of a gain when i put on my 3" dp. they the stock is good into the 11's. i'd replace it if you find a cheap replacement, otherwise you should be fine.

i'm pretty intrested to hear what other peopel say about the powerplate, i'm thinking about getting one to lower knock but if it ends up being a big restriction and alky does a god enough job then i won't get one.

12.8-13.0 with Nittos.

I'd get a Turbotweak chip set up for alky. and run 22-23psi.

Check the injectors for flow and while you are doing that toss them in the garbage can and get some 50's. ;)

Get the chip made after that. :D

Ran 13.5 at 4000 lbs. on stock stuff, fuel upgrades however, in a very heavy GN with slipping shot tranny at Englishtown.

100% duty cycle according to direct scan.

Only thing stock about your exhaust is the downpipe right?

Get a ported elbow with big puck for the stocker should be good to the 11's so sayeth the gooorrooos. :)

Just my .02 alky. works great in pretty much any part of the street buildup process.

The Powerplate is not a restriction. It simply evens out the flow of the incoming air/fuel mixture to all the cylinders lessening the chance of detonation. It does the same thing with, or without, alcohol injection.

Would be my pleasure to install it, and get it dialed in for you. The dialing in is fun. Give me a little notice to get everything we need. Would be great to finally meet ya.

I use the RJC plate with my car. It actually helps. Its for air distribution. You saturate air with alcohol, it distributes the saturated air evenly..make sense. Remember your not shooting a stream of alky into the motor, that why a mist nozzle is used. To mist/saturate the air charge.

Stock GN, no cat, 160 stat, ADJ FPR, 307/340 fuel pump, hot wire kit, valve springs, open K&N, RJC plate, with some sticky's and an open dump or good exhuast system..should hit 12.50's at 108+ running 22 PSI boost. Tuned. May even do better.. Open K&N on the end of a straight pipe is what works best. On the downpipe issue..it cant hurt.. but your limitations are the turbo and stock injectors. Those things will be static in the 12's.

I ran 12.08 on stock injectors, stock turbo, and a downpipe on my TTA. What let me break into the 11's was running higher boost with a bigger turbo. Replacing my injectors from stockers to 50's netted zero ET or MPH improvement, but my duty cycles went from 120-130% down to 65-70%. I currently run approx 80 % at 118 mph.

Some guys have run stock turbo's into the 11's, some have run stock injectors to 121 MPH, i'm just going on averages.

Weather also plays a part with a turbo car. As does seat time and tuning it.

Hope the info helps..

Thanks Julio ill give you a call:D

Ive got a BGC 3 in dp,ported stock elbow,ta49,009s,ported irons with big valves, and Dutt neck intercooler laying around but I dont want to mod this car besides whats mentioned above and alky.

Ive allready got 2 race cars so im fairly certain I wont be modding this one.No need to build ANOTHER money pit.Ill only use the injectors if needed.So....

I believe alky will make the car way more fun to drive. You wont be on the edge of detonation at lower boost levels like you would on straight pump gas.

Call it insurance, run lower 20's for boost, it will live a very long time at that level. just keep the bosst down, it will be fun, you wont be smoking tranny's, rear ends, tires, etc :)

Go to the track, better tires, dialed in.. should make really good times.

Thats what I want, the car to LIVE and make decent power. And I think alky will be the best way go to accomplish those goals.
