Is There Any Interest In An Alky-pump Gas 10.5 Drag Radial Class For The Tb Community?

1.) Street Legal Cars With Proof Of Current State Registrations.
2.) Limit It To A 109 Block.
3.) No Tube Chassis.
4.) No Liquid Ic.
5.) No Back Halfed Cars.
6.) Single Turbo.
7.) 200 4r Tranny.
8.) No Fuel Cells.
9.) No Weight Restrictions Or Penalties.
10.) Working A/C.

These Combo's Seem To Make Up Most Of What The Tb Community Has Anyway So Why Not Make A Class For It.

Sounds interesting. To make it real interesting put as much of an emphasis as possible on being a true street car. How about you have to have a working radio, all seats, and have to weigh at least 3700 with driver. No Weight Restrictions Or Penalties is going to lead someone to completely gut the car. How about you have to have the AC or heat on during the run?

They already have one. Razor ran it at BG last year. I thinkg it was called Turbo street alcohol or something.

all you need to do is have TSS allow alcohol & there you go. about the only other difference is the tires. they are now allowing TE style turbos. that would probably realy boost the TSS turn out.

I have spoken with Jim Carswell (the new Race director for the NATS) and wants a proposed car count for a TAI Class in BG for 2007. Julio can chime in with more experiance here as he directed/ran this class last year. I plan on running this class in 07' with my TTA. If we can get a respectible car count for this class I dont see why it could not be a success. Its all in fun and hanging out with fellow Buick friends.

Here are the rules that were used for the 06' TAI Class in BG

I would be interested in this class, but 3700 pounds?? Mine's a true daily driver street car with nothing done to lighten it and it weighs 3555 with me in it.

im with colin ,, i have full opton hardtop GN with all power options , steel bumpers with alum reinforcemnets ,full size battery ,3/4 tank fuel , and a few other non std weight adders (datalogger alky, loop, axles etc that may seem small but added up they are considerable ) and only tip the scales at 3600

as for what you might need for performance ooks like low low 10s or even 9s to be in the top bunch

razor has a well thought out class already we dont need another

Melissa and Dan (Grumpy)went 10.10 at 132 today!!
Pump gas, alky drag radials with a 1.48 60FT off the footbrake!

Well, that sounds like a fun idea. However the only problem with those rules are the 4 headlights. I have mine out and have had it out for about 4 years and have no desire to put it back in. However would like to attempt this class.
I guess we can see what happens for next season.

Thanks,

I SAW THAT, BUT A TRUE STREET CLASS SHOULD REQUIRE A REGISTRATION, YOU CAN'T DRIVE A STREET CAR ON THE STREET WITHOUT A REG. UNLESS YOU THRO A DEALER PLATE ON IT BUT THAT DEFEATS THE PURPOSE OF A STREET CAR CONSIDERING MOST OF US DONT HAVE ACCESS TO A DEALER PLATE. A 2004R IS WHAT MOST PEOPLE RUN SO PERSONALLY I THINK THE CLASS SHOULD REQUIRE THIS. OTHERWISE GUYS WILL RUN A TH400 WITH (VSC) VARIABLE STALL. FB-VSC

THAT APPEARS TO BE AN ADVANTAGE OVER THE 2004R. I THINK BRANFORD RAN THAT IN HIS TSM CAR. NOT SURE THO.

A FULL STOCK INTERIOR SHOULD BE REQUIRED TOO. IT IS A STREET CAR, RIGHT?

THIS WAY YOU KEEP THE PLAYING FIELD MORE EVEN AND THE RACE WINNER GOES TO THE CAR THAT HAS THE BEST TUNE, LAUNCH, DRIVER AND WHAT EVER OTHER TRICKS ONE MIGHT HAVE. IT DOES NOT TURN INTO WHO HAS THE MOST MONEY INTO THEIR STREET CAR TO MAKE IT FASTER. JUST MY 2 CENTS....

ok 3550 with driver. Must have a spare and jack in the trunk.
No FAST. 200-4R a must.

NO F.A.S.T....! NO, A PROPERLY TUNED CAR IS A MUST TO KEEP THE CAR TOGETHER SO YOU CAN IN FACT STILL DRIVE IT ON THE STREET AFTER LEAVING THE TRACK. A GREAT TUNER CAN PULL SERIOUS HP OUT OF A CAR. THAT IS A LEARNED SKILL, NOT JUST AN EXPENSIVE AFTERMARKET PART.

I agree with having the car as street as possible but some things can be left out. For example the spare tire and jack should be out of the car, orginal block, trans, rear, and nothing larger then a 10.5 tire. Full interior but of course a cage if required, AC and heat should still be in. In other words the car is completely street but ready for track if that makes any sense. There is of course grey areas within the stock setup, (stock trans but aftermarket shifter) etc... Stock suspension but aftermarket parts as well should be brought up. Can front sway bar be removed? Maybe each thing should be tackled one at a time

Motor:
Trans:
Suspension:
Interior:
Turbo:
etc...

Thanks,

PS: I hope I didn't bring things up that have already been completely thought out. I hate to be redundant.

why set an ET limit ??? Melissa's car is a street car !!! light weight things on the car ?? she has aluminum bumper supports front and rear .. thats it .. I think turbo's should be limited to 66's

I agree with Grumpy, I mean if that car is under the guidelines of a Street car there should be no reasons for a limit. My car weighs 3552 with me in it. I have a fiberglass front bumper and thats it. Power everything except seats. I do not race with anything in the car (spare tire, jack etc..) I also have my drivers side highbeam headlight out since my airfilter is right there and drive the car just like it is at the track in the st. which is completely "street legal". I have an aftermarket shifter and running M/T ET streets 27x9.5 all other mods are in sig.

Sorry I am still am against FAST. Expensive and at that point you are ready to move up. Limit on the turbo is a good idea. How about 67 turbo and a weight penalty for anything bigger. Also stock LIKE suspension. All pieces must bolt up to the stock location. Must have front bar as well.

hmmmmmm.... let me go tell Melissa we have to change some settings in her Turbotweek chip so we can drive it on the street after running a 10.10 @ 132  and I took it to breakfast with my buddy's this mornin

That means if I put my front sway bar back on and spare tire back in....I still have to add 50lbs somewhere.

How light can your car be. 3550 with driver. Even a small man weighs at least 150. That would put your full weight car at 3400.

How about the 67 turbo limit?
