alum rad support install

can anyone who has replaced the rad support with an early alum one tell me whats involved? Do you have to shim , or change the front body cushions? I think the early rad support may sit at a different height?
I plan to swap mine out & would like to know whats involved before I rip my car apart.

Did you have to cut,or shim the body mounts under the support? I hear people make spacers for the inner fenderwells?

Just did the swap!! There was nothing that was a Pain in the ass. I blasted it painted it and got new core support bushings off EBay of $19 for the pr. Placed the rad support in. Jacked it up on one side slid the rubber bushings in them did the other side. Everything bolted up. It has all the holes to bolt up the rad support. The only thing missing is the hole for the battery hold down bolt. No shims used the height of the aluminum support matched the steel one.

Taking the core support off to swap it out also helped with the engine install. Made it really easy. I agree the weight saving is not that great but I got a. Good deal on the rad support.

out of curiosity, what is the weight savings on this? is it similar to the difference between steel and aluminum bumper supports?
