Okay got my car back Monday from the shop. On the way home I got a code 44. Car feel like it running rich. Black smoke is coming from the Exhaust. Maf sensor reading are within the range of operation. Can it be because of the o2 sensor? Can the o2 sensor cause my car to run rich therefore creating the black some? My blm are pegged at 160 can go wot because it only has 100 mile on this rebuild.

Let's see... code 44 (lean O2 fault), running rich, blowing black smoke, BLM pegged at 160. Hmmm. You just perfectly described either a header leak or large vacuum leak.

If it is I cant find it. My scanmaster also gave me a code 45 now Im getting both and blm are low like 90. Can a large header or vacuum leak still cause this? WHy do you got two wastegate solenoids Dave, and could my wastegate cause a code 44?

Wait a minute. Now I'm confused. First, you have a code 44 (lean O2), BLM's pegged at the upper limit of 160, and black smoke.

Now you're telling me you have exactly the opposite? Code 45 (rich O2), BLM's pegged at the lower limit of 90.???

Is this like musical chairs with symptoms, or guess my problem.

There's got to be something really wierd to send the car from one extreme to the other with no explanation. What changed?

Wastegate can't cause either of your problems.

BTW, the reason I run two wastegate solenoids, is because I run an electronic controller (Boost Command). The normal spread of adjustment for one solenoid is between 5-7# from no bleed to max bleed (just an internal limitation because it can only bleed so much air).
Adding the second solenoid allows for more boost to be bled off, thereby increasing the min to max boost adjustability range, now, closer to 10# from min to max.

Before going on the test drive that resulted in both code 44/45 I installed a new o2 sensor i didnt reset the ECM. Do I have to? I took it for a spin looked on my scan master and it showed a code 44 then would go to code 45 then back to 44 then back to 45 and it kept doing this till i got home. I got a code 44 before i changed the o2 sensor maybe i didnt apply enough sealant to the o2 sensor ?

gndriver, your symptoms are exactly like me except for the black smoke. the guy looked at my car, no vacuum leaks and i had the stock headers welded so he thinks i have a leaky injector(s). his theory also explain my idle, spool up and drivability problems as well so i am replacing them soon. if that doesnt fix my problem im checking the pre-turbo exhaust system next.

Correct me if I'm wrong guys, but you have to reset the ECM. The scanmaster when set to show malfunctions codes will keep scrolling through any codes stored in the computer (44-45-44-45-44 etc.) Reset the ecm. If the engine light comes on again, check the code with the scanmaster. Otherwise it will keep showing old codes.

P.S. Dave, I just ordered a BstC and I'll probably run 2 solenoids. Any info on how to hook them up?

That did it I just resetted the computer so the malfunction code are gone. As for the black smoke since its a new engine i figured it had to much gas in the engine so i stepped on while cruising. Not enough for wot but enough to burn all that gas and guess what no more black smoke. I checked it again for any types of vacuum leak and there was none that i could find. One curious thing though my blm are like 90 while idle then when i step on it they go to 130 is that any reason for concern the low blm's?

Take a look at the picture in my picture album, link in my sig. It's pretty self explanatory, any further questions, then just holler.
BTW, on the street I just leave one of them unplugged. No chance for a mistake that way ;)
