today i was talking to my friend about a guy he knows that does tranny work, and somehow we got ont eh subject of a guy he knows, that works with someone that knows someone that has some gn's setting around that he wants to sell. apparently they have been stolden a few times and the guy just wanted them gone.

problem is we didn't know where the guy lives. we knew he lived on the east side of a street, next to a green house across from a meat plant. we didn't even know what street, but we had an idea.

so after aobut 3 hours of knocking on peoples doors, which if you've never done that, its an experience. i had one guy try to sell us his ford probe, another guy try to sell us his house, and another guy, i wish he would have tryed to sell me his daughter, but thats beside the point. we ended up finding the car hidden in a field under a tree. someone parked it there because it had been stolden twice and it was the only place out of view to keep it.

it was pretty clean, the paint was shot, but the body is straight, the interior is realy clean, not cracked up at all, seats are in good shape and so is the head liner. the engine is bone stock right down to the airbox. never been touched. has 144k miles.

he wanted $900 for this car! my friend managed to steal it for...

$700!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

talk aobut a steal. the guy really had no idea what he had. we got to talking, he used to have "one of those x grand nationals" he didn't like it much so he sold it to his son for $2,000. a gnx, for $2,000. ready for the kicker? it had 2,000 miles at the time, right now it has 5,000 miles. i asked for his sons number but he said he wouldn't sell the car regardless of the money.

right now its getting cleaned up and i'm sure will be well taken care of.

my friend pisses me off too, thats just not fair.

i really want to find his son and make him on offer on his grand national x. play dumb about it, a gnx isnt' anything special, just dender flares and vents. i think those gauges and wheels are aftermarket....

:D

How does a person come to buy a GNX, pay a ton for it and not know what it is? Seriously, how?

That's awesome. My brother's '87 T was abandoned. He picked it up for $850 with a salvage title (standard procedure for abandoned cars in PA). It sounds like that $700 car is in better shape - good find!

i'll try to get some pick but its nothing to look at. just a faded maroon t. after looking at I think its been hit on the rear quarter, nothing bad just a little body damage, theres some waves in it that just don't look right.

but it runs, and even runs good. he threw a battery in it and drove it home. even raced his friend with an older carberated tta (and won)

it should have a clean title and everything when its done, but it will have a state assigned vin # so that hurts the value a little but no big deal, its never going to be a high dollar car anyways.

This guys son(if he exists) would have had that car also in his garage,if that even exisits also...
The man is just a BS'er

But good job getting the car away from a crack head

My brother's is maroon (dark red metallic), too. Pics here:

It needed a turbo when we got it. He put one on it but didn't have a boost gauge and promptly blew the motor. We had it rebuilt and are still struggling with getting it running right.

Er, uh...Huh? I had to read that about three times and I'm still not sure if I've got that straight. :D Nice score BTW.

Most people don't know what a GN is let alone a GNx. Appaently this guy didn't even know he had a fairly valuable T.
