Removing a new cap causes 3 teeth to break off...wondering if there is a way to reattach or to reinforce them.

Thanks for any ideas.

Bob

The guy that I bought my car from used JB Weld to attach them. Not a great idea, but it works. I have thought about attaching two small tabs to my caps with JB Weld and using two very small screws to attach them to my wheels from the inside.

Any thoughts from our site "elders"??????

Get a set of the metal retainers that are used on GTA center caps(which caps also fit T-Type rims). I've used those and a little silicone around the lip of the cap. Puts a death grip on the suckers ;) .

tape them on the inside with good duct tape.
Tape from the inside of the cap over to the wheel and when you mount em it is there

I have in the past used 1 or 1.5 wraps of electrical tape around the tabs themselves to increase the diameterical size, thus reducing the clearance between the outside of the lugs and the inside of the mating rim surface. If you wrap them too tight, that by itself will break lugs. HTH. Balance tires before cementing the center cap, if you choose that method to retain them.

I have a set of 4 that have teeth problems on every one of them. I took a small bead of ultra black RTV and glued them right to the wheel. I had my rims powder coated so the RTV cleans up really nice. You can get them off if you need to change or repair a tires and they will not fall off.

I think I'd still RTV them in place even if the fingers were perfect......just to keep them in place. Try it, you'll like it!!
