Got a coin I'm looking to sell and have no clue what it's value is. I know..get a book. I'm gonna do that but sometimes things fluctuate.

Anyways, it's a 1910 20 dollar Saint Gauden gold coin. I see them on ebay from 1000 on up. Looks like an "A" under the date but hard to see.

What's a realistic value?

One of the most beautiful coin designs ever.
Melt value of one oz. of gold will always be it's minimum value.
Condition and mintage of the coin will increase value immensely. Is it graded and cladded?
Production numbers:
Philadelphia Mint (no mint mark) - 482,167
Denver Mint ("D" mint mark) - 429,000
San Fransisco Mint ("S" mint mark) - 2,128,250
I'll give you a thousand for it in a heartbeat.

That's what I figured..it's worth 1000 with today's scrap gold prices.

Doesn't appear to be any markings under the date...possibly an "A"

Not graded or claded? Not sure what that even is, hard case?
It's in just a clear vinyl pouch. I would grade it in above average condition. Typical light scratches, but there is very good definition onall of the engravings and they are not "worn flat"

Here you go:

Wow. That's pretty awesome. I can't see that going down in value.

No Saint Gauden gold coins had the A letter stamped on them, you gotta look close to see what you got, if the coin is in Mint condition which is MS-65 it be worth a lot more than $1,000.00.

I would say your coin falls in the VF category by no means is nowhere near MS60 and up.. good luck with the sale..

That "A"under the date is the designers initials standing for August St. Gaudens! The coin was minted in Philadelphia because ithas no mintmark, and by looking at the condition here it looks like some scratches right on the center of Liberty's body, usually a siign that the coin would be graded Extremely fine, or perhaps Almost uncirculated by current standards!.

$1000 is a fair price for the coin, in this condition! Most dealers would offer slightly less $950-$985, retail slightly more around $1020-$1075, again depending on what the coin looks like when IN HAND!

the coin dont look to good on face wise and the scrapes on the waist of the girl. the edges is kinda looks bad too.. on grading the coin look at all the high spot to see if the wear is there. that will tell you mostly the grade of the coin, and scrape will nock off a bunch..... sorry for the bad news...

Good luck, its worth its weight in "gold" ... stop trying to BS us. Take what you get and be grateful ---
