I can't seem to find any good discusion groups for my 04 impala ss s/c. I found a few for the regal gs and grand prix but not impala spacific. Anybody?

They're all W-body cars.

regalgs.org, w-body.com and clubgp.com have some really good information for the Wbody models.

If you want Impala only, I did find newimpala.com has some good info on it.

I just went through the entire transmission (4T65E) on my 03 last week. Be sure to keep yours serviced (as I always have), you will need to replace your 4th gear shaft some day. It was nice because I just put in a new shaft, clutches/steels and a new EPC solenoid. You don't have to worry about cleaning metal shavings and stuff out of the case if you are preventing the problem rather than repairing it. Total cost for parts was just over $300.

Have you installed the GMPP handling kit?

And....

TransGo Shift kit SK 4t65E and the forward drum as stated in the shift kit instructions.

I chose the non-supercharged regal so my mod money would still go to the GN.

I haven't had time to do anything to it yet. We drove over 900 miles round trip to pick it up on Saturday. This is the first 3800 sc I've owned and I'm impressed. So far I love it. I've heard that the tranies are the weak link in the drive trane, is that true?

Yep, thats true about the trans...smoked mine in under 50k, not sure what the previous owner did to it (I got the GTP @ 42,000 miles) definately a fun car though!

This should is a must have for every W-body!!!!

GM Parts Direct: Your direct source for Genuine GM Parts

It removed that...Look out!! the rear is spinning around to the front...make room, feeling the car can have around tight turns. it made the entire car feel tighter. My daily drive is a crazy one through fairly steep slopes and windy cliff turns. My sentra was faster through this one 6 mile stretch but the regal gives me a better chance of surviving a wreck.

Also the U-bend delete is a must! I built mine for under $10.
