Ted your comments to Dave shows alot of class, we know you will be back. The guys in TSO and TSM are raising the bar to new heights. CONGRATS.

Dave F. qualifed at 8.33 167 on the drag radials, then tried the slicks and ran two 8.8's so went back to the "good" tires :-). After putting up two 8.78's earlier, Chris Lyons stepped up to an 8.74 in the final against Dave, even with the fire. I never heard the cause. From the stands at the 60' mark (so basically looking at the back of the car) we saw a little yellow flicker from under the engine when he was roughly at the 1/8th mile, quickly followed by a big yellow "whoosh" from a fireball that filled the entire undercar space, that was completely out by the 1000' mark so nothing but smoke as the car crossed the finish line. Kind of like a flashbulb going off in slow motion. I know he has an in-car fire suppression system but I don't know if that is what put it out or what caused it in the first place. They were still down at the end of the shutdown area loading it in the trailer when I left the park.

More random thoughts: Don Cruz ran a 9.26 and at least one 9.33 in TSM, is that a new record? Jeff Harrington got his new TSO car down into the 9.teens. Red Armstrong ran TSO (for the first time I've ever heard of), got the jump on Avon in the first round but his 9.4 or 9.6 wasn't enough and Avon drove past him but blew an exhaust gasket in the process. Got a new gasket installed but next round against Chris Lyons just couldn't spool it and that was that. Rich Rezes fought electrical gremlins all weekend and eventually was forced to withdraw from the first round, but in the end drove it on the trailer and will definitely be back for Columbus. Art Paltz in the GbodyParts TSO car got completely out of shape on the second qualifying pass, used most of the track and managed to save it and stay off the wall. The wind was blowing again Sunday but no rain or even threat of rain, and, of course, the ice cream was delicious!

Bob vs Kip

Saw Bob S "lay hands on" Kip A in the bleachers Sunday. I think the disagreement started over an interruptor gear or might have been a bet on the TSM final (btw great job Steve). Some other dude put Kip in a headlock and Kip popped him then threw Bob against another guy who was just minding his own business. The poor other guy spilled beef jerky and hard lemonade all over the place. It was u-g-l-y. I was scared for my life. Otherwise it was a great day!

It would have been but the scales were broke so there was no official weight so no records will be counted, too bad since he and Dave Fiscus both put us some numbers

Yep, #1 and #2 qualifier went at it in the semis. Dave ran a 8.33 @ 167 and I at least cut a good light 040 to be exact, but at only a 8.55, all I could do is sit back and watch. We both gave everybody what they were looking for, the best side by side race EVER and two records set at the same time. Those guys really have done their homework and the best guy won as it should be. Congrats to them and all their hard work.

Wow, that sounds like an amazing race.
Sorry to hear that your car took a little not racing related damage...

I hope this is comedy...?

Yes John, that was Southern Indiana comedy.

The runs were not records due to the scales issue. Possibly they became records because the scales were broken and the drivers knew it. ;) Maybe, maybe not.

I did not witness anyone removing weight from there cars. Nor was I "looking for it."

Ahh. In typical Scott Simpson fashion. We havent seen the real mean Scott in a while!

The TSO race was allot of fun not to mention congratulations to Dave on the win. It was a great time talking to new and old friends, then being able to watch those killer times that Dave and Ted made during the event. Plus I have to give a thumbs up to Chris for organizing such a great class that seems to be growing, also Rich you need to let me know what flavor ice cream you would like for that first round win.

Ted,

I ribbed you before on your light at cecil, Now its time to give you credit that 040 light was NASTY Like i told you after the race had you put down another 8.42 pass it was anyones game. Congrats to you and Dan for putting together a car that runs like yours does with stock style heads and.... stays together.
