Chris, the answer to the question, in my case was that when you ran 8.14 170+ with the big turbo you took a big question out of whether or not it could be done with stock heads. With that being said you helped pave the way for others to follow so honestly Chris, I think that the weight difference being I did not even take advantage of it as well as Don only coming in 75# over weight (point series), or #125 under weight (GSCA Rules) really was a mute point. We realized for whatever reason that these combos were going to capable to run with the stage heads this spring and over the summer. A year ago I am not sure what Don's plan was, I heard he was going to run stage heads, but maybe what we left off with (you and I), plus the lure of another first for him changed his mind, I don't know, but now there is only 1 car in the game running stock style heads at this level so he is now a minority, so if it comes to a vote the weight break will be GONE and with good reason because with Dons latest MPH proves he is making more power than the S2 heads so what is fair is fair, the Stage headed guys took things real well when it went our way and in hindsight we were not pushing our stuff hard and didn't have our combos refined, now it would only be fair to give some back.

It would take total revamp of the TSO rules to get a 25.5-25.2/3 chassis to 3200# and somehow I don't think guys across the board are going to spend the $$ and chop up the cars to get them that light when there just isn't any room in the rules at this point to do so.

My personal take on running TSO this year was we all showed up and raced. No B.S. run what you brung 88 turbo stock suspension and 10.5 tires or radials.

Congrats to Dave Fiscus for 2010 Point series championship!!!

The weight break rule was two fold. First, at the time, and even still today, on paper S2 heads where considered an advantage by many. What we have been seeing is that they are not and the stock style heads may actually be better in some ways.

Second, I was hoping the weight break would entice a few top TSM racers step up to the class and all of those guys have stock style heads. We now have Don Cruz this year and Steve Hughes coming back next year. It is hard to convince racers they could compete without S2 heads with Tony and Dave putting 5-10 mph up over the fastest stock style head cars in the class.

So IMO the weight break helped the class and was at the time a good rule to implement. FYI I was never under 3400# last fall.

I think you are going to see most cars going the 25.5/25.3 way. Not only for safety reasons but obviously I wasn't the only one who has had a difficult time getting a car like this down the track efficiently enough to get a good ET. I really thought I would see the 7 sec ET fall especially with both you and Don making the power to get it done early in the year. That is the whole reason my car was sold to begin with. I was starting over and there is little to nothing I would've used in that chassis in a new car built to run and certify for the 7's.

FYI I will also be back next year along with Steve Hughes with stock style heads so Don will not be alone. I believe there will be others sooner or later those TSM guys are going to get tired of those 109 blocks:wink: I have a motor on the stand and an almost complete car at the chassis shop. Now if I can only get my old heads back from Tom:rolleyes:

I know everyone is probably dying to bash me. So, I'll start it off. I had the number 10 car there. It ran consistant 14.5's at 95 MPH:mad: ... LMAO... It was the first time it had been out of the garage in a year and a half. Yes, it did have an awesome paint job, which I did myself in the garage. No, it was not done in a booth, but my garage. And it did have the Leather seats. Thanks to everyone that stopped and complimented me on my work. It was very hard to do and took me a long time, but I really appreciate the compliments I received.

As for the timeslips, I'm now going to be the prime example " you can throw money at these cars all day long and not make them fast."
Yes, i'm running fast, bilit ball turbo, the whole nine yards. and I could have cried when I saw the timeslip.

But, In my car's defense. We found a cracked driver header that had been repaired. It is also a stock un-opened motor with 150,000 miles, stock valve springs, and timing chain.

Now, I have a new motor on the stand, that will hopefully be ready by next summer. but I couldn't look at the car anymore, I just had to drive it a little.

We had a freaking ball, it was fun fun fun. I whooped the crap out of a 5.4 ford truck and that made my day damit. And for me this what it is about, having fun. I'm building a street car, that I can take to the track, not a race car. I just wish the track would have let me take my kids down for just one run, they would have loved that, i mean dam, it was running 14 sec's (crying smiley).

A big thanks to Cal and Holly for hosting the event, and for helping me learn a little about tuning. The tune is dead on I think, the motor just doesn't have it in it anymore.

Also, thanks to Willard Brown for some vacuum line and a wrench. It may seem small, but I was in need and you helped me.

I was happy to meet a few more people, including Scott W. - thanks for the compliment on my lights and for making them, I hope to meet some more people at the next event.

So, everybody go ahead and roast me. It's been over 15years since I've driven down the strip. and I had alot of fun anyway.

Does anyone have pics or videos of reynolds, hopin for some stuff of my car.

I'm sure I got some video Randy..... probably several passes of you.... I'll see when I get a chance to go thru it.... The only one I've had a chance to watch so far is Alan's 9.44 pass...... I felt like a weight had been lifted! Congrats on your new best... ET and MPH right?

I would love to see video of any of my wheelstands if anyone has any. Thx!

made my first track pass at 52 yrs of age at Reynolds!

Well I'm not near as fast as the heavy hitters BUT I did make my first official pass with my Turbo Buick at Reynolds on Saturday. It was the white TR with blue heavy padded vinyl top and T-Tops, chrome trimmed car with the polished T wheels. This was my first time on the strip and very first pass. Combo is below and I ran on street tires netting a 12.67 at 108 pass (1.9 60 ft). I was and still am excited!! I see what the addiction is now and a forsee a set of spare rims and DRs in my future. Big thanks to Mike Waters (Black Demon), Graig from FL (cme2fly), and Mike Littlejohn (beamer) for the tips, coaching, and drag racing tutorial. I would have made a few more passes but I had my daughter with me. Thanks too to Jim Rodgers for suggesting and taking my pic with the tower back drop at the end with car and daughter. I will enlarge that pic and frame it along with my first timeslip. I also want to thank Holly Hartline for allowing me to come in on the second way with racers fee waived since I did not get to make a pass on Friday due to the weather (crazy!) and the track shutting down early. My little street car almost beat that white conv Vette that was spraying. He treed me and got me by 1/2 car length. If anyone has pictures of my car (track or otherwise) or video of the run, I would be grateful. What a rush!!

Hey Brian yes that was my best e.t. and mph to date 9.46@141.86 with a 1.33 60ft. not bad for a lil iron headed motor and stock stroke to boot.:cool:;)

Randy, are you still running Roy/Laz's stock cube iron headed 109? If so, that is awesome to hear it's still kicking azz and taking names!:cool: Congrats on your new best!

For those of you wanting pictures, Irela Palumbo was the official photographer and took over 1400 pictures. Her website is: My Photographic Eye by Irela I will try and find out when the pictures are available.
