Just wondering,I have a 9 inch rear and currently running and a spool with 35 spline axles.i plan on driving on street some and I don't care for how spool drives.i am running a stage motor with a 400 trans.i like to know how durable and how we'll it works it works on drag strip. Any advice would be great. Basically keep spool. Or use trutrac What's your thoughts.

I discussed this w/ some mfgrs when I put the 9" in my GN/stage combo.
The guys @ Strange said the surefire choice would be a Det locker. They said the others may last a while, but...........
The current project, an 86 T Type/LS turbo combo is getting a complete 9" From Quick Performance. They told me the same thing.

Mine is a QuickTime rear end as we'll. so the Detroit locker is better than the trutrac diff.?

What I was told. I didn't choose to take a chance. I've used the Det lockers in most of my cars, that have/had some serious "steam"...Haven't broken 1, yet.

Most of these differentials need to "Sense" wheel spin in order to operate and/or distribute torque to the non spinning wheel. This leaves me with the impression that my car will already be aiming at the wall (due to unequal torque distribution) before both wheels decide to spin together. I never had a Detroit locker but would probably trust that over a tru trac .

Lockers are really strong but takes getting used to the ratcheting/banging going around tight corners. Had one in my pro street Chevelle and ended up taking it out.

well I just went ahead and put it in last week( since I done bought it),as far as driving and turning great.we will have to see how it reacts to drag strip. I have a buddy running a true trac in his 8 sec twin turbo coyote car and he loves it says it goes strait everytime...hope it does as well for me.
