any way to properly port the wastegate hole without running the car?

I will have a brand spanking new 6262 turbo in a few days and I also upgraded to a 3" external WG downpipe. I know I need to port the wastegate hole on the turbo, but I'd rather not have to install the turbo, run the car for awhile, and then take it all apart again. Is there any way to get that done correctly without running the car first?

If someone has some data on what size the hole should be using the 46mm Full Throttle downpipe, I'd really appreciate it.

Smear some white grease or similar on the puck so there is enuf to leave an imprint. Even white polishing cream or similar, Tie the puck back with some wire so it cant move. Bolt turbo to DP & release wire & make a footprint on turbo. One good contact then tie the arm back so it cant move. Remove turbo from DP carefully & you get a perfect footprint of the puck over hole so you know where to port it. Easy as mud! Just did it last winter with my new RJC pipe.

The downpipe is not on the car.....turbo, IC, and downpipe are all brand new. This new downpipe better not have a puck on it or I'm gonna beat someone with it.

You did get a great turbo. I bought a 6265 journal bearing from Mike and it has exceeded my expectations.

Use hi-spot on the wastegate flange of the downpipe, this is the area that contacts the turbo wastegate hole.

carefully assemble the downpipe to the turbo, then disassemble, the downpipe will leave a outline on the turbo contact face.
Tip : wear a latex glove when working with hispot, it's a bugger to get it off your skin.

Also completely seal the turbo before you start grinding on it... exspecially the oil supply and drain hole areas.

1. remove the exhaust housing from the turbo
2. remove the wastegate from the downpipe
3. bolt the downpipe to the exhasut housing
4. take some spray paint ( I used orange for a good contrast) and spray it down the small pipe that goes to the wastegate hole.
5. Let it dry for a minute or two, then remove the downpipe from the exhaust housing.

The paint will leave a good outline of where the wastegate pipe contacts the exhaust housing.

THEN START PORTING!!
