I am having a problem with my tensioner "skipping" as the motor runs with the new light weight RJC tensioner pulley. It seems worse at idle then when reving the motor. I've tried 2 different tensioners because I thought it was just the tensioner but it does the same thing on both. The pulley just seems to skip or bounce every now and then, and makes a click noise. I never had this problem with the stock pulley. Anybody have any ideas? Is the pulley just too light? It's a brand new belt. I bought it from Advance. Maybe the belt is wrong? All the other pulleys work perfect. These are the RJC pulleys btw.

My guess is the stock tensioner spring is broken but still providing some/most of the stock spring pressure.

Lighter pulley would bounce a bit more than the stocker.

Pop the stocker back on there and bump and release the throttle at the throttle body it will probably do it also on occasion.

Just my .02 as a guess...

My car does it also and I tried the NAPA 060637 belt which helped a lot.

So far not an issue just waiting for a cheap one to come along someday.....

Is your belt a 635K6 or a 640K6? If it is a 640, and the pulley is the same size as stock, it will slip and squeal. The cars came with the equivalent to a 635K6 belt and some manufacturers do not make this size but substitute the longer belt in their catalogs.
