I have allstate insurance. Was wondering if anyone has had problems with claims? My agent told me in order to get full value I need to have it appraised when its finished and try to keep all my reciepts. Got screwed on my 79 sport coupe when it got keyed, but I didn't have it appraised then either. He said my current value only sits around 3k with the mileage and no appraisal, so the full coverage will only be around 30 bucks a monthe with multiple car discount. But he promised there will be no hassles after its appraised?????? Open to suggestions beings my car will be on the road soon. He said reason beings is because of the mileage and there's no documentation of condition like pics and receipts, which he said will all be documented when it does get appraised.

Get it professionally appraised, and make sure the paintjob is specifically detailed on the appraisal. Then get it insured by Allstate for the stated value, and feel free to drive the car.

I have Allstate too. It's good insurance in my opinion.

Run from Allstate. I wouldn't use them if they were giving insurance away and thats about all it is worth. Don't expect them to be on your side if something goes wrong. Your fault or not. They are by far the most crooked company on the planet.

quit it you're scaring me! lol! Anyone else. WOuld like some more input been with them for 6 years now with one accident, no problem with that but it was just liability on my beater. I'm just worried about getting screwed on my buick.

Yep, I have been accident and ticket free and with ALLSTATE for almost 6 years. When I got into a fender bender (Not my fault), they basically told me "You are on your own". Their leagl department is only "by your side" (despite what the commercial says) if it will lower their payout. I am currently shopping. Changing companies is one of my goals for Jan 2007.

My wife's daily driver was hit while she was driving down the road. They handled it quickly, professionally and even gave me more that I thought the car was worth. They easily could have assign her some fo the blame, but paid 100%.

I think you'll hear horror stories about an insurance company, because people are rarely satisfied no matter what happens.

I had full coverage on my 79 when it got keyed. They tried telling me it would be totaled if I had a claim on it. According to them it was only worth 800 bucks. That is why I'm questioning them insuring THIS Buick.

Go with state farm.

Allstate, farmers, etc sound like good companys but when U take ur car to a body shop U will find that State Farm is clearly the company of choice. They are also the only company that will replace damaged parts with genuine parts. Also I only had to take pictures of my car to have it insured for 12K. I have 3 cars and the house with them so my payment on the regal is only$40.00 a month. More importantly, how did the heads work out?

There are always pos and neg experiences with every company. I am starting to think it has to do with the "Region / Agent / Adjuster"????

Allstate hands were not good to me. Wife had 3 accidents in 6yrs not her fault 3 *******s rearended her each time. They wanted to incease policy 100%. You know the rest.

Brer Rabbit

Just dropped the motor in yesterday and bolted it up. Got a few bucks to spend for christmas. Gotta get wires, a belt, water pump(new of course!), and wait for my driveshaft and injectors I bought from psiedv6. I think I might go ahead and buy a power plate and 160 tstat from full throttle beings I'm waiting for injectors. Got a thread started in tech area if u wanna check it out. Like I tell everyone, I'm putting it together blind! Hopefully the first start-up will be this weekend but most likely next week sometime. As far as my insurance company goes, me and my agent may have to sit down and have a little talk about this car. I can't afford to get screwed in an accident when I have a loan out for this p.o.s.!

We have had Allstate for years with no issues. Our Allstate agent even recommended we switch to Haggerty for our WE4 and GSX which we did.

From my experiences...."

Why worry, or spend so much money on insurance?

In my Opinion:

Get the cheapest 2nd hand insurance and insure it for the cheapest dollar amount possible. Another words, just enough to put it on the road, depending on how much you have in it. If it's a 15k-20k car, you may want to add more insurance depending. If it's more than that, for sure.

If it's a 9,000 to 14,000 car, then why worry so much about it?? Get a really good alarm, collar lock, wheel lock, and keep a good eye on it.

Depending on where you store the car, keep the car, and how you drive your car, you'll probably save a lot of money if you just get a good alarm, steering wheel anti-theft bar, and just be darn careful driving the car on the darn road.

As far as worrying about insurance, if you get allstate, state farm, geico, etc- at least you can drive it to and from work, to the store, etc etc. That's what typically I like to do. It all comes down with how much you feel it's worth, and how much you want to worry about it. Just don't throw money away to insurance companies, if you don't have to. I'm just being honest.

If you get classic car insurance for $200-$300 a year, they require that you keep the car garaged, don't drive it more than a certain amount of miles, (2,000 3,000 to 5,000 miles average), and they also say you can't drive it to work, and make a ton of stupid rules to help them not payout if something happens.

I've seen a lot few guy without "Any Insurance", & even with these cars....

People who store them, garage queens, an occasional drive down a country road, an occasional tow to the track, etc. lol!

Not true and I'm typically on the other side when dealing with insurance companies and have seen it all. Allstate has more bad faith claims against them than any other insurance company out there bar none, and COULD CARE LESS. They are not going to be on your side it YOU get hit in an accident no matter whose fault it is. They are very deceptive and use many deceptive tactics some of which they have gotten in trouble for but still use.

Buying the cheapest insurance is NOT the thing to do. The best thing you can do is find a QUALITY insurance agent and deal with him and listen to what he tells you. Here is a good examply of how you can easily get screwed. A new issue that has come up in Ohio has to do uninsured motorist coverage. Lets say you are in a serious accident that is your fault and you wife or children are seriously injured. Lets say they have medical bills over $100k (eay to do) and your wife is not going to be able to able to return to her $100k a year job as a result of her injuries. What would you do? Typically your wife would be abe to sue you under your uninsured/underinsured policy this in no longer the case in Ohio. Progressive is the latest to include a clause in there new policies that do not allow a spouse to sue you for injuries. Anyone else in the car that is not your spouse or child can sue you though and recieve compensation for medical bills, pain suffering etc. So watch what you sign up for because this is not an uncommon practice.

I've dealt with them all and they are all tough to deal with. I have State Farm oersonally and have never seen State Farm screw one of thier insured. They can be a real PIA if you are on the other side but they typically treat thier insured s really well. They are also at least 20% of my total practice income so I deal with them ALOT. Allstate couldn't give a F*&! about you until you miss a payment.

I realize most of us on this board are concerned about property damage when picking an insurance company for the GN. This is not what I'm really talking about here. Property damage issues are usually easily settled. It is injured people that I am referring to when speaking about insurance companies. I love my GN but I don't think you can compare that to the health and well being of you or your family which should be the real reason in choosing an insurance company.

Oh well enough of my rant I hope some of you find this useful.

When I got in my accident allstate didn't even second guess giving me my money for MY medical bills. Although it wasn't quite enough to pay for it all, I still got it. I was the one that hit the parked car on the bridge, and I only had cheapie liability. No tickets, didn't even find out whose fault it was ruled. I was surprised they were quick to giving me my medical money. My agent used to date my sister a while back. He has no hard feelings against me though. I stop in when he wants to talk about policy changes, usually good changes, and we sit there for an hour and shoot the sh*t. I guess I wasn't thinking about all the other stuff. I keep a close eye on my vehicles and it will probably almost always stay in the garage. But there are exceptions! We have a lot of trash in this city that think they can drive because they have a license or they got license plates but no insurance. Like the illeagal with no insurance that I hit or my idiot friend down the street that practically has always refused to have insurance, people with no license or whatever else Those are the ones I'm scared of! I think I'll just put full coverage on it for now and wait until its completely finished and get it appraised and go from there. My insurance guy is friends that does appraisals, he said he'll do it for next to nothing.

** insurance needs vary from person to person, state to state, and is all relative to the application(s), vehicle, and what a person's comfort level, history, and what other people have experienced as well.

Insurance companies hate to pay out when it comes to large claims. But they have to. Get a lawyer, and sue them if they don't.

***My housewife wife never goes in my Buick, so the last post doesn't apply

It's all about risk, and I do believe that percents, stats, and common sense apply here. (you can tell I'm an engineer...)

I have Allstate, and Allstate just payed out almost 6,000 to put a brand new convertible top on my 97 Cobra, brand new leather wrapped seating (all of it), new stereo, new paint, new tires, new just about everything that was damaged in the comphrehensive claim. They didn't even wince.

I guess insurance is sorta like religion. Everyone has their own beliefs, experiences, and opinions.

Then again, a lot of people don't have any insurance at all....
