I just started a new job today at Checker Auto. Today I find out we are one of the busiest stores in town. That sure was true today. First day and I had to work the parts counter. There is a lot more to this job than I thought. I wish there was a "trial day" of work before you make a commitment to see if its the job for you or not......They are really into customer service at CSK, which is good but this is my first sales type job and I have never done this before. I was a auto technician but was tired of getting screwed by the dealer I was working at. This job is nothing like fixing cars. It dont pay nothing either compaired to technician. I hope it gets better from here. Sorry for complaining:)

So has anybody worked here before and what did you think of the job and company.

No one has worked for them??? I guess thats my answer.....find another job.

i know a few people that work for them one is an account at corp. in phoenix az and has been there for 10+ years. the others have worked there since i was 18. they treat me well, they bitch like everyone else at a retail job, if you like the pay then run with it. they have decent benifits too.

I work for another one of the national chains and I can tell you this....you will never be as confused, exasperated and/or frustrated as your first month or so on the job in a parts store. If you thought you knew a lot about cars before then you will quickly find out how little you do know when you are looking for parts for every make, model and year. It gets better and what once was frustrating you will be able to do in your sleep.

As for the pay...it can be good and bad and it all depends on how valuable you are to the company. You can make crap pay in the auto parts business or you can make 6 figures....the only thing holding you back will be yourself. Good Luck...stick with it long enough to see if you like it and trust me on one thing...those first two weeks are the ABSOLUTE worst that it will ever get.

The only place you're going to hit 6 figures is at a dealership. And you aint going to do it right out of the box. Heck I've been doing this for 28 years and I'd have to work my a$$ off to hit that figure. Its not worth my health and sanity. I'm very comfortable where I'm at, thank you, which aint bad IMO. If you hate dealing with retards and idiots in general along with the crappy selection and quality of parts a dealership aint a bad place to work. Just look at me. I've worked my way up the top of the ladder. I sit at a desk in an air conditioned room BS'n with the wholesale customers and playing around on the internet when its slow.

I know of what I speak. You won't still be on a parts counter making 6 figures...but if you are worth anything then you will quickly show your value and move up the ladder.

Your experience is obviously different....but that's your experience. Others are different.
