I won't get into what it said, but it looked like a spam email. I am just trying to figure out if his email account got hi-jacked or something. Is he a member here?

Yes, member and vendor. Let me guess, he gave you a link to buy viagra? Thats going around gmail, yahoo, etc all the time.

No...no viagra sales lol... I found his username and sent him a PM or conversation or whatever you want to call it. The most likely spam email contained his correct contact info

I just got it too... Damn Gmail...

Mark, if it is you I will take free parts instead of $$$$$$$. :)

I got one. At first i wrote up a response but then i decided i would come over here and send him a pm to confirm his email and I find this thread.
Way to go guys.

I got one as well this morning and was in the middle of a reply until I started to become suspicious of the verbage and poor grammar usage. I am glad that I came here to check for any red flags before sending! It certainly smells like a very sneaky email infection. Has anyone called Mark directly about this? He may be totally unaware that this is occurring. I hope that it has not compromised any credit card information on file.

Since Marks link in the vendors list doesn't work he is probably trying to supplement his income.........:D

I truly am touring Europe for the spring, desperately need $$$$ so I can rent a Ferrari to cruise the Autobahn while I am here!:D:eek:

This is my new advertising scheme to drum up business. Just kidding. I have an alternate email address with email to back up orders in case of any problems with my regular email address. Looks like it has something to do with Gmail.

No concerns over credit card information as I never actually see it with my credit card program.

I'm pretty sure they are not related, but go figure...there was just fraudulent charges made to my credit card . While this is most likely a coincidence it wouldn't hurt to check your bank account or credit card account just to be safe!

Welcome to the 21st century, plenty of emails like that out there. I got one from a friends address years ago with basically the same story with his name in it. No fraudelent credit card / Paypal transactions originated from my site. I don't see any of your card / account details other than your name and address and last 4 digits of your card. Everything is processed thru my merchant credit account or thru Paypal. I have no info that is stored on my computer related to financial info.

My freinds started telling me I was sending them all kinds of wacky e mail advertisements so I checked with my internet service provider, in my case Cox Communications.

They told me that some malware had gotten into my account and learned my password and it was the culprit for the screwy outbound e mails. They had me delete my temporary internet files through the control panel and then changed my account password.

Since then no more problem.

Had this happen to me as well as a few friends. Do a complete scan of the system first. I've got avast, malwarebites, spybot search and destroy, and superantispyware to check everything. One of them will catch it since only one won't catch everything. Then you need to change all the email passwords and I added a sig to my email in case it gets hijacked again. I erase it when I send one out and just leave my name, which saves a lot of issues if it happens again.:)

If you recieve spam from my account please contact me so that I know that my email has been compromised.
Thank you,
Charlie
