Last week we had a hail storm in the middle of summer ,,my car has been outside since we have been in the process(1month) of moving in,,,Well the garage was full of boxes and had no place for the White T to go,,the car was dirty (filthy) ,so it had clean marks wherre the hail hit and you couldnt see the dents ,,now after washing the car I see all the tiny dents,,is it to late to call the insurance, the car was to be painted over the winter, now I need extra work,,,I do have pics as it was hailing on my car...please help

It's definitely worth a try. Hail damage is time consuming and therefore expensive to repair. Hit you insurance company up and see what they'll give ya.

Call them. Comp loss. Did they ever document the condition when you first insured it? Expect to get a $1000+ check, less any deductable.

Small dents will work themselves out quite a bit on their own.

The repeated heating and cooling (expansion and contraction) will work a lot of it out.

Paintless dent removal is a good way to go if you can....Umless you were painting it anyway

Good luck ;)

No never documented the condition,,,which is considered to be a ""Good Condition"" car

You should be fine. I would get a couple of estimates before you let them cut you a check. Usually when a big storm happens the ins co brings in a big team and cuts checks on the spot.

What ins co do you have?

Just call your agent. I am sure they will be glad to hear from you! :)

Hope there isn't too much damage! They may try to total it on you! lol

Let us know how it turns out!

I work for an insurance company ... best thing you could do is make sure you have a decent idea of what the date of the hail was. Depending on how local your claims reps are they may question it. I work in the area I live so I can easily verify wether there was a storm or not. If you dont have an exact date - give a window of time. If you have had the policy with no lapses in coverage or payment the process should be simple . If you just got the policy 2 days before the storm expect the process to be a little more difficult.

Tips for the inspection : Clean the car real well as it makes it easier to see the dings. I would even recommend having them inspect it at a shop of your choice or inside somewhere with drop lites and overhead lites. Make sure you look ALL over the car .. hail can cause dings whichever way they wind blows.

I ran home from work one day and left my GN in the driveway instead of the garage.........30 min. pitstop to shower. I shut the water off and it sounds like it's still running. HAIL. Pea sized.

It left 100's of little dings all over the hood-roof-and trunk lid. State Farm cut a check for 3k to have all of them removed ( I don't know if they filled or pulled them) and re-shoot the whole car. All I did was call my agent, no questions asked. Check was made out to me AND the shop so I could not sign it if I was unhappy with the work.

Six years later the hood-roof-and trunk look fine.

I guess it all depends on the agent.

Good luck, I thought I would share a happy outcome to make it seem a little easier right now.

This happened to me in 1980 with my brand new TransAm. The car was redone and looked great. State Farm originally tried to hassle me a little bit because I was fairly young. After I said, "Look, the car was damaged from Hail, you can see the damage, just fix it." He turned around, handed the papers to his associate and all was handled. White is a really forgiving color too... you should be fine.
