I drew that diagram because RUQWNF27 is using the hood light. You can use anything you like on the Hobbs switch to close the relay. It doesn't take much power and it won't close until the Hobbs switch closes anyhow. You just need good heavy gauge wire running from the alternator through the relay to the pump.

I know this thread is as old as the internet, but could someone familiar with this info verify that one of these drawings/schematics is correct. I really want to do this right the first time and this is the most helpful info I could find.
