Got a friend that logs in occasionally as a guest and was looking through the "cars for sale" section when he picked up some sorta virus. Thanks.

my blocker keeps popping up when i go into the tech section, says something about infectedwebpage.gen, something about a infected script, i just hit deny access.

Unless the ads are injecting virii, which has happened once before with Google, everything on our side looks okay. I looked through the forum display code and theres nothing in there that shouldnt be.

Ok I'm kinda thinking he did mention the same thing but did not did not deny access. That possibly was the culprit. Thanks.

My anti-virus caught something about a week ago. Quarantined it and I don't remember what it was after I cleaned everything out.

The ad providers get hacked and then have embedded viri in the ads. Doesn't matter if you click them or not. If it was through an ad, make sure the browser and ALL adobe products are updated. The big target now is adobe because is doesn't have to a windows system to get in. More than likely, he is running an older version of flash and the infected flash ad walked right into his compy.

Yes, I've been hit twice and even had my IT dept ask me about it. I go to very few sites. I was pretty sure it came from here, but didn't know how I would have gotten it just opening threads in a forum.

My antivirus goes off as well...shoot, half the time I can't even get on because it says database error. Including the last 3 days.

Never picked up anything like that here, but have recieved some of those warnings at other places when a redirect jumps in, only once in a while though.
I have heard people mention possible FaceBook infection becoming common.
Seems these attacks are sporatic, about every 3 months we hear of a new one.
And always be carefull when forum index ask's: Continue Free Tour?...
whoops, hehe, wrong site...;)

back to your regularilly scheduled programming :p

Firefox, No Script addon = no problem. I've only had 1 malware within the last 5 years only because the kids started downloading games.

My work computer wouldn't let me on yesterday with the same 'database error'. Got txts from other members reporting the same thing, wondering if the site had been pulled!(?)

Last two days, my AV has picked up a potential threat. Once it came up as being a high enough threat that the AV's pop-up said the site had been reported as dangerous. My question would be, reported to whom?
