I ask this because I usually pop #5 (most common). I'm curious if anyone popped #2 piston? What are causes? It poppped by out towards the waterjacket. Thanks.
Yup...detonation.... too much boost and timing, not enough octane. No scanmaster since the car had a Gen 6 DFI that I couldn't tune and I dont think I even knew about methanol injection back then. This was back when 5 gallons of Torco 118 octane was $45! A decade or so....
Just in case no one mentioned it............DETONATION! Do you run alcohol injection? If not, get a Alky Control kit. Best money you can spend. But with alcohol we tend to blow the front cylinders instead of the rear ones with out it. But that is with 26+ psi boost and 700+ hp. The alcohol has mass and it fills the rear cylinders more than the front ones due to intake design.
But first detirmine what caused it in that cylinder. Look at the plug. bad injector, injector wire, intake valve seal leaking bad inducing oil in that cylinder, ect.....
