so im trying to get my rear end from my 87 gn back together. i pulled it from the car to switch out the 4.10's and put back in 3.42's. im affraid that i wont get it back together correctly. is there anyone in the tucson/prescott/phoenix are that could help me out? the rear is near the prescott area. i have the complete bearing/ gasket set alot with the ring and pinion, pumpkin, akles, housing. the entire thing. im just affraid that im going to mess it up and really done want to pay the $350 that a local shop in the p.v. area and also in tucson quoted me at.

I've done many gear sets & not just on Buick's & this is not a job for a novice.$350.00 labor is well worth it.Your already saving money by supplying the parts.Most shops won't even get involved with that.Used gears establish a pattern that have to be duplicated back to where they were originally set. If not they will whine or worst. Just my.02 worth

I agree with Lou; if the guy can provide good references then pay the $350. I have also done several GN gear changes and it is not an easy job if it is done correctly. I normally pull the rear end out of the car to make the change.

nick, i called and left a message as to when i might be able to set up a time and day as to when i could bring in the rear and parts. left me number, if you could just gimme a call back at your convenience (boy that is spelled wrong:D ) it would be greatly appreciated.
