I am about to buy an engine with the 85 block ( not a 109) and was wondering if anyone had used one and what the differences are. I really would enjoy reading everyones opinion.

Happy Holidays.

I hope you all find what you want under that tree!!

I would post the question in the hot air section. Nearly all of us are running these blocks with no problems. But I can tell you that when you place an 84/85 block next to a 109 the differences are glaring.

I went and got me a 109 for my hot air rebuild. Cost of machine work is identical for both. So why not go with the better block.

Sort of like debating the differnce between a two bolt and a four bolt small block chevy.
