Arp Head Bolts!!!why Such A Problem

HEY RED...I GOT THE ARP BOLTS TODAY AND THERE ARE 4 LONG 4MED LENGHT AND 8 SHORT DID YOU HAVE THIS PROB....ARP SAID IF I LIKE THEY WILL SWAP THE MED BOLTS FOR SHORT ONES...WHY IS THIS ENG SUCH A PROBLEM!!!:mad:
 
that should be right under the valve cover the two center ones are longer than the outside ones then the ones that are on the outside of the head are short.

just stick them in the head with it off the motor they should all stick out about an inch or so.

86-87 ones would stick out about 2 inches or more

OKAY RED I CHECKED THOSE BOLTS TODAY...
THE LONG ARP LOOK OK, TWO THREADS LONGER BUT SHOULD NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE
THE SHORT ARP BOLTS LOOK LIKE THE PERFECT LENGHT
THE MED ARP CANNOT BE USED WAY TOO LONG IN THE SHORT HOLES AND TOO SHORT IN THE LONG BOLT HOLES
ARP IS SENDING ME 4 MORE SHORT SO I THINK I WILL BE OKAY.
NOW I JUST NEED SOME TIPS OR TRICKS ON INSTALLATION,IM USING STEEL SHIMS SO HOW MUCH FT LBS ON THE BOLTS AND ANYTHING ELSE I WOULD NEED TOO KNOW....TIA
 
on the hotair motor i sprayed the gaskets with permatex high-tach on both sides let them get good and tacky and tossed them on..final torque using motor oil on the threads was 80#
i went 90 on my i/c motor..:eek:

the bolts should have come with torque specks .
