In the oilfield, we use molybdenum disulfide on the threads of certain kinds of pipe that go into wells. One of the most prevalent used comes in a spray bottle. It's made by Banner and called Moly-G-Lube. Don't kno if you live in an area near the Gulf Coast, but if you do, there should be some oilfield supply stores that would have it. The spray bottle makes it easy to coat small parts. I have a bottle that I use when making any connections on exterior stuff at the house like spigots, lower unit on the boat, exterior outlets. Never thought about using it under the hood.
