Just wanted to ask the experts out there.

I have an '87 Olds Cutlass Supreme that I am currently restifying and I'm blacking out all of the chrome trim around the windows and such.

My question is on the chrome trim that runs up the B-Pillar just behind the window. For the GN's and Regals that had the monochromatic paint scheme, did they have this piece there but was just painted?

Or, did they not have it at all?

What about the roof drip rails? Were these just painted?

The window trim I plan to have powder coated satin black. The car is being painted with Dodge/Chryslers Dark Blue Pearl Metallic.

Any other suggestions?
Thanks for the help!

Yes, the piece is on Regals. A blacked out Regal or GN came with all these pieces blacked out with powder coating.

John is correct. Actually they were fluorocarbon coated. Check with you powder coater as the now make a black that comes very close to duplicating this process with out it looking like it was painted. If you use the cheap SEM style paints it will only chip off after time.

A bit of trivia here. Even though they look alike, the B-pillar molding was different on every G-body model. The difference is in the raised part of the molding. They will interchange between the models though.

Be carefull removing them. GM used some heavy duty adhesive to hold them on so if you get a little to aggressive you can bend and distort them.

Thanks for the help!

Not to worry about bending them up. They've already been pulled and came of just fine.

My friend who's doing the body work asked me if the Regals/GN's had this. We were deciding on whether or not to put it back on.

Thanks,
