I went to the track yesterday to tune for Vegas. The car has been on pump gas tune since Feb. I drained the tank at the track and put in 7 gal of C-16. The car ran terrible afterwards. The car would not idle good, stalled twice, and had terrible spool at the line. Would not make more than 5psi, foot brakin. In Feb it would make 12psi easy. This is the same tune and chip when I ran in Feb. New denso 02 sensor with less than 10 gal of C-16.New plugs. Never had a prblem with C-16 before.

Is it possible to get a bad batch of race gas???
Today I am going to drain the tank and put pump gas in and see how it runs.

what did it come out of , maybe water or something got mixed in with it . when i buy C16 it comes in a sealed 5 gallon can . Are they dispensing it from a 55 gal drum or a tank in the ground ? I love the sealed 5 gal cans you can be sure your getting what you paid for , not some mix somone cooked up to save $$$$

I dont know wayquick maybe theres your answer . If water got in it ........... VP sells it in 5 gallon sealed cans too , maybe someone in your area sell it that way . I get mine at SK speed in N.Y . Maybe VPs site has a distributor list .

Im not discounting the water in gas theory but.....How different were the temps from Feb to Now?That alone can throw a wrench in your tune, especially when running race gas

Thanks for the responce

temp differance was 10-15 from now to Feb. according to the time slips.

But that shouldnt make the idle all of a sudden go to heck, right after the race gas. This is basicly the tune its had for the last 2 years with good performance, then as soon as this batch of gas was put in it ran like crap. Ive never had the car stall on me before like it did at the track.

I was just wondering if some else had a similar problem. It just seems like junk gas. I have asked the fuel guy before if they sell much C-16 and he said only the turbo cars buy it..... which is not often that any come to our track. So I guess I just answered my own question.

Every TR I have owned/wrenched on has idled differently with leaded fuel in it...Only explanation I have is the fact that it burns slower.
