saw on line where .060 is the proper clearence on the band with a billet servo, is this checked by using a feeler guage between the drum and band, if not, can someone give me the correct way to check the band clearence so that I won,t burn it up. thanks

Jake thanks for the reply, want to make sure I understand, when the servo is installed and the cover has not been put on yet, and with the servo piston and it's holder setting tight against its stop, I should be able to push the pin in .060 and the band will be tight and stop the pin movement. Is this correct. Thanks.

No,
Install the cover also, and then you should be able to push the cover, servo, etc in .060" from the snap ring.

Usually when using a billet servo and Alto band, I have almost always had to shorten the pin. I believe it is the way the servo is made or possibly the band anchor but in any case I usually have to grind the pin to get clearance.

If you have too much clearance, you can use a longer pin, a pin extender, or use washer(s) between the pin and servo.
