Banning People

I too am impressed the thread hasn't been closed. I agree with Bruce about the relevance of Terry and this board. While I do think it's relevant material to the lounge, since he's not an advertiser or poster here, why should the moderators/supermoderators/techs/administrators (hereby refered to as TAMS) ban his name? That's ludicrous.

However I do NOT agree with banning Keith. His advertising? Sure...I can understand that. I can appreciate that Nick has taken his time to be in contact with Keith and attempt to help US at the unnecessary cost of HIS time. However I believe we should be able to discuss it freely, like we do with CAS and any other vendor we feel has fallen into ill-repute.

Many people have begun to jump ship to TBS.com, and that's fine...but rather than bash this board, appreciate it for what it is. I ask most of my tech questions here and "play" over there. Best of both worlds! ALL the TAMS of both board put alot of time and energy here for OUR benefit...let's not bite the hand that feeds us, folks.

Actually want to thank ALL you guys for responding as I think we all learned a lot through this thread. It gave us the opportunity to show how we try to operate - concerned, open and listening to the members.

Ian, please read ALL my posts in this thread, Keith is NOT banned. I talked with him today.

It has been a mutual agreement to suspend all discussion about KME until current customer issues have been cleared. This was done to eliminate any possible "pissing" contest during the week or 2 it will take. It was my decision to handle it this way with Keith, and I stand by it, as in the long run, it is in "our" mutual best interest.

since you'll are now helping members who have been stuck by a vendor will you talk a certain vendor into swapping my unit that was admitted died well within warranty for a good unit

I personally know Mike and Bill and think they are great guys. We admit, our boards are different and that is fine, should be that way.

To be honest Nick,when you've been screwed by vendors[there was TWO vendors involved in *that* fiasco] for large money,you tend to have a long memory.
The time frame of when it happened and who was running the board really doesn't matter.
The deed was done and the vendors turned their backs,walked away and said "tough luck".
I think that is what browns most guys off.

Wakkoss is right, a bunch of people have jumped ship.. I will say what rubs me the wrong way is the tone that has been used by certain "administrators" of this board when responding.. But like it was said before, your board, run it your way.

But having somewhat of a jerk reaction to comments that are posted and creates frustration, makes your guys look like you are flexing muscle and are acting childish. . And we are just the PEE'ons...

In regards to the Terry Houston thing----It's OK to bash other people, political, entertainers, or anyone else why is it an issue to mention someone that is involved in the TR community? That is what forums are for... Bottom line is, it does not matter who they are or what associations they are part of.. If you delete 1 thread...Delete them all.

On the "other" vendor issues I would like to know about a vendors performance in regards to a sale before I send them $$$.$$ for parts. If just a poll with no comments allowed indicating experience with the vendor would help...

It DOES matter about who was running the board 2 years ago when we are discussing how we plan on it's operation now, and this is thrown in current discussions.

We have no control, or even first hand knowledge of went on then, and sorry Kid, it is not relevant in this thread.

There is no concern about "jumping ship" as our membership keeps growing. If following some simple rules and guidelines are a problem, go for it. [This is not directed at your post Kid, but further ramblings! ]

The "childlish" posts do NOT originate from the moderators. The administration has dictated that we will try and maintain a base level of dignity and professionalism and we do do consider moral issues. We try to maintain a level of good taste. So if my wife or kid looks at the board, I do not want to be embarresed.

Glad everyone understands this is NOT a free-for-all where anything can be posted. If this is allowed on the other board, you obviously have a choice.

You want a poll about a vendor's performance, do it. The general rules as stated above apply, as they do in any post or thread.

Red's, if you have a problem that we can possibly help, e-mail Bruce or myself direct like many others have done in the past couple weeks. If a thread is deleted, it is gone. What good would it serve the board in general to re-hash old problems? We can try and resolve it and move on from here.

I think the thread has turned into subscribers voicing what they think would make the board better and fair, not just Mease. Terry may have nothing to do with the board, but he has everything to do with the Buick community, and the board is the Buick community. I have seen many threads discussing people who have been arrested. We all do it, from OJ to the recent trial of the lady who let the guy die in her windsheild. The state of Ohio puts a sex offender list online to let people know what he has done and as a warning to others.

All this please don't, or I hope I'm not BANNED stuff seems way out of control. Same with the vendor stuff.

I have been done wrong by two vendors, and when asked about them I tell about it JUST SO OTHERS WILL PROCEED WITH APPROPRIATE CARE, and the posts don't get locked of deleted. I have seen many watch out threads and don't know anybody that has been banned; I know there have been a few banned, just don't know any of those FEW people. Yes, I have been here since nearly the beginning (used a different screen name back then).

We are lucky to have this fine avenue of information exchange. It seems as if the board has called for a temporary cease discussion of KME, it is because action is underway by the moderators in an attempt to try to directly remedy the situation. These people are going to bat for us.

Give them a break already! And is there really a need to email them every time one feels like venting?
