From what I've read on here and in the books I have, the only true "Turbo T" in 87 was the WE4. Otherwise there was the Base Regal with Turbo, Regal Limited with Turbo, GN, GNX. I've seen a few Base Regals with the T Package but no Turbo Package. I've never seen what I would classify as a "Base Regal with Turbo" as it is listed in the literature. To me that wold mean that you could get a base Regal with a Turbo Package and no T Package, but I've never seen one so I assume it wasn't made. Did the Turbo Package require the T package, but the T packge didn't require the Turbo Package?

This is correct

However, I have called my car a "Turbo-T" since August of '86, before they made WE-4's. I believe All '87 (non GN) turbo Regals are "Turbo-T's". and a Black Turbo-T with black bumpers is a WE-4. IMO.

That's true, you would automatically get the (Y56) "T" package when you ordered a Turbo Regal (LC2) package.

In 87 the name went from T Type to Turbo T for what was a T Type in 86.
But there was still a T Type available in 87 it had a 307 in it T wheels, Bulge hood, etc...Yes I said 307 v8.
WE4 is simple a Blackout Pkg Trim, bumpers, etc

I don't think 87 n/a Regals with the T pkg. have hood bulges.

No bulge, no turbo v6, and no 8.5 rear but it did have every thing else that a turbo ttype had like black out package, wheels, badges, 200-4r trans, sport suspension and steering, "T" steering wheel, etc... At least my 87 limited T did anyway... It didn't have the ttype emblems just the "t" on the fender like the turbo t's. It had a very non fuel efficient weak 307.

It really wasn't that simple. The '86 T-Type Regal was its own model. The WE2 Grand National was an option of this model. All of the '86 Turbo Regals included the WO2 black out trim package.

As stated this changed in '87. The Regal included two models(Regal and Regal Limited) to start the year and added a third mid year(Grand National). The 'T' package was available on both of the models. This is what enabled the n/a engines. At the beginning of the year the WE2(GN) was an option on the base Regal. As the year progressed the WE2 became its own model.

The LC2 and the WO2 were options on either model. The addition of the LC2 required that the car also be equipped with the Y56 "T" package.

The WE4 included the LC2, Y56, and the WO2 as well as required it be Black with a gray interior as part of the package. Much like the WE2 GN required the Black/gray interior and rear spoiler, and included the LC2 as part of the package.

I found a pic of a window sticker where the GN pkg is the option on the base Regal. I'll look for one where the GN is the model.
