Bathroom Remodel ?

Ok after being in the new USED house for 1.5 years I am going to change 3 items.
When we first moved in I added a modern light over the wall cabinet & painted the wall area above the wall tiles.

Now the wife wants the OLD 1965 wall mounted sink & toilet & linolium tile floor gone.

Where do I start?
Since I am installing a new vanity with sink, toilet & tile floor

Should I take out the toilet & rip up the floor?

Then install new floor tile, then toilet, then vanity with sink?
I want the new floor under the new vanity. Is this the correct way?

When I did mine, I gutted the bathroom and laid the new floor first.

I out new tiles under the vanity. This was in case I changed the vanity later on. I wouldn't have to worry about the depth of the vanity. Also, it helps keep everything level.

Toilets are easy to replace. Just take off the old toilet, lay your new floor and put the new toilet in. Just make sure if you are doing tile, that the tiles where the toilet will be resting on are level. If not, you could get a wobbly toilet and hae to use shims to get it to sit still.

I know there are lots of ways to go about this, but I am just sharing my experience with it.

Thanks metal.. That sounds good.. I thought the same thing about the vanity. If I ever change it the same tile will be underneath it.

Make sure the floor is good and solid as well as level. Once you pull everything out, use a level all over the floor. If it sags when you walk on it, you will probably have to lay a piece of 1/4" plywood down first. Then the tile/grout won't crack later. Don't forget that laying down tile or wood will make your toilet bolts effectively shorter. Also when tiling, start in the center of the room. Otherwise you can end up with a funky looking pattern.

I didn't thin about that! my house is on a slab, so it was relatively easy. Wood floors are a different story sometimes! LOL

Yes I have wood floor. The current linolum needs to come up so I can see what is under it.

I do have a small 1/8 inch dip next to the tub about 3" long.

I will have to anyalze that real good. I may have to patch in a small section of luan or maybe even a skim of morter like they use to do on battleships LOL!

But If i need to lay all new underlayment I will be off to home depot to give the charge card a workout.
