I noticed that after I installed the RJC pulleys it has been making some noise for sometime now. I now realize it's the tensioner/idler pulley that the noise is comming from. The thing wobble so much it's hits one the A/C bolt only when the A/C is on.

The bearing is new the bolt it tight and the belt is new.

Is the tensioner or the bearing bad?

Even though the belt is new, if it were shorter, would it move the tensioner pulley away from the bolt? If the awswer is yes, then try another belt first.

Is the pulley wobbling side to side like a wheel with loose lugnuts, or is the tensioner spring bouncing up and down (the belt will be flopping up and down a little, too)? If the former, the bearing is bad or the mounting ear is broken off, if the latter the spring is most likely weak.

The bushings in the pivot wear out. If its hitting the AC then its probably badly worn. You can see it by looking at the alignment of all the pullies. When the bushings wear out the tensioners ****. This will usually also cause belt noise, sometimes more noticeable when damp out as a chirping.

What size is the new belt? I haven't bought one for a while, but everytime I got one before at the auto parts store, they always listed the size wrong. I think they listed a 64" belt, and it calls for a 63.5 incher.

I had the same issue and was the belt being to big. Stop by Auto Zone and fix it cheap... Kelly Springfield belt (made by GoodYear) in the slughtly smaller size for $10.99. The part # is 635K6.

The belt is a Dayco belt don't know the size but it's the same length as the GM belt.

The pulley is wobbling up and down. I will try to replace the belt first. Anyone got some part numbers on the belts?

Thanks!

I posted the part number above  Simple and cheap fix and it should only take 10 mins to do.

Thanks but we don't have a Autozone here in Hawaii and I don't ever recall any of the local parts store that carry Kelly Springfiels belts. If you know the size that at least I can mentioned it to the parts counter guys.

Looks like we only got Goodyear and Dayco belts but I could be wrong.

Goodyear Gatorback belt is part #4060635 ...If local places dont sell them, I got mine from Summit...It is a 63.5" belt as posted above...

Gator back is even better. Grab the number JBenn posted. I used the Gatorback and like that as well. If all else fails.. I'll pick one up and ship it to you. I can take PayPal. That's what you get for living on a island! :D :p ;) :D

I got a Gates belt but it's 64.5" long so it's might not work. If you could get me one it would be great and let me know how much it is and I'll paypal you the money. Thank-you.

e-mail me your info and address and I'll let you know what shipping would be. I should be able to pick it up tomorrow..

Thank-you phillyturbosix!

Update...

The belt was the problem, the dayco belt was like 1/2" shorter.
