What is the best replacement exhaust system for an 86' GN in your opinions?

Thanks, Joe

gn1performance.com is selling a complete bolt on cat back thats similar to the atr cat back and its stainless steal, looks great and sounds awesome

My opinion

Cottons 3 inch with Magnaflow Muff's. It is a little expensive but the muff's have a lifetime warrranty because they are stainless. Bolted right on though and sound great. Not to loud or to soft. 10.65@126.9 through the mufflers!

You might want to think twice about a single shot system though, they drone quite bit. I drove my Limited home from BG to MI with an ATR single shot, and cold still hear it for half a day.

This is gonna be a hard topic because everybody may have a different taste in sound..

A fairly economical system could be the hooker system, Botls right to the back of the factory cat and is 2.5 mandrel all the way, seems to fit well in my experiance and has a fairly mild demeanor. not to loud, not to quiet.....

sometimes you can find in the parts for sale or ebay.

Married how much was the gn1 exhaust system? it is great looking. Thanks for all the info guys, maby I should have been more specific. Price is an issue as usual, but the main concern is a nice tone and great flow.

Thanks again, Joe

Is your kit rear exit? If it is do you have any pics?

EDIT: Like the montes

yes it is a rear exit, side of both rear tires also do sell it so exits by rear bumper.I will get some pics today.Or you can go on there web site Welcome to Torque Tech Performance Exhaust Products I have had this exhaust on my first n/a regal and it fits perfect. My brother has same exhaust on his 79 turbo regal. And a buddy has a 81 camaro with there exhaust, all fit perfect.I will get pics after work for ya. Got a email address

Well it depends on how much you wnt to spend.

You can order the hooker from summit or jegs. This system fits well sounds good and really does perform well.

If you are wanting something a little more exotic, Contact Jack cotton or Gbody parts. Thye both seem to have systems that are very good.

Hope this helps.

i love my 3" single shot.. yea it drones a little.. but who cares really!! thats part of the love of the car!

single shot FTW

Got torque tech on mine also, 3" with Hooker muffs. Nice sound. Very clean and easy install. Bolts up nicely to cat or test pipe.
Little to no drone at idle/cruise, pretty aggressive note under wide open.
here is a pic from the rear, don't have any under car pics.
