:confused:Well it's time to replace the old mild steel cat back that has served me well since 1988, but it's so quiet and the muffs are pretty banged up. I searched but couldn't find a good discussion including fit, sound, 2.5" vs 3.0" and value for price.
I KNOW you guys have opinions on this. I'm looking for a great value, dual no single shot, that sounds good, fits well, doesn't drone. I figure all the good ones must have pretty comprable performance. I'll be stuck with this for a long time so it's gotta sound sweet and fit well/install easily. I don't think I need 3 inch, but if it's the best overall value out there and it fits that's ok. I saw one from modern muscle. OK lemme have it!
thanks for the opinions!:D

We sell this one. STAINLESS CATBACK EXHAUST I installed one on my own GN replacing the Hooker with Aerochamber muffs I had on it. Actually a bit lighter than the Hooker setup, no drone and sounds nice.

Installed it on my back in my garage, would be a lot easier with a lift. My car is lowered quite a bit and had to trim a couple of the pipes to gain clearance going up and over the rear axle.

I suggest using stepped band clamps at all connections instead of the supplied clamps, that way the system can be easily disconnected if the need arises and makes it easy to change positions of the pipes as you install them. I have it supported with 6 hangers total. One in back of each muffler, the welded tab on the rear axle pipe to the factory hanger and then an additional one on the tailpipe. I am NOT using the factory cat hanger and have a band clamp at the dump pipe connection to the down pipe.

If you eliminate the cat hanger you will have to shim up the difference on the trans mount to keep your driveshaft angle the same. I used one of the HR trans mounts we sell as that has a shim included with it. Have not had any issues with eliminating the cat hanger. With the hanger setup I mentioned earlier the system pretty much supports itself, not a lot of pressure on the downpipe.

I'm running the 2.5" stainless catback from Jack.

I've had it for about 8 years now and I love it.

It has 2 Walker UltraFlo stainless mufflers on it and they do not drone. It has a nice throaty sound but isn't annoying or loud.

Performance has never suffered because of it.

My only complaint was one of the mufflers hit the bolt from the rear trailer arm. The "fitment hammer" fixed that and I have never looked back.

hello; I was going to start a new thread on my experiance but since you asked about ss exhaust, here goes.
I had a 3" (not ss) dual system that I liked the sound but not the way it hung. It's been on a while and I liked the way RJC ss 3" single shot sounded so I got it. Yesterday I had a pro shop install it and they had problems. It took about 3 hours to remove the old and fit the new. I tried to call RJC for some advise but he was unavailable. I think it's going to take a while to get use to but I do like the way it's out of site but the sound is different. I can't explain it but as I drive with it I'll come out with something.
If you can get a dual system that is garanteed when installed is out of the way I think I would go with that. I don't think there is. I think all duals hang not the way I like.
more to come as I live with the single shot.

Are you talking about this?3" exhaust

I do have to agree with you on how the exhaust systems with 2 mufflers sits alittle to low for my liking. If i had to do it again i would go with RJC unit in a heart beat

hello ladies and gentlemen;
Diaz, that is the system and like I said I really like not seeing those hanging muffs from the back of the car. So far on the hi-way you almost don't here anything as far as the exhaust sound as that kind of weird for me as the other ex. was not that way. One more thing (it might be in my head) but on the hi-way the boost comes on a little slower. I don't know, but I'll keep the forum updated.
thanks

I am not sure on what you guys are saying about the mufflers being too low? My mufflers are about 1/2'' lower than the pipes and do not hang down at all? With the cross-over system you still have a pipe going to it . The main reason for the cross-over systen was to get rid of drone the farther back the mufflers the better.

Guys,
Thanks for the great replies. I'm sorry I didn't chime in sooner, but I wasn't getting my notifications for some reason. Anyhow, I'm reading, digesting, and percolating:) The single shot muffler sits higher than the dual setup? Is that what I'm reading here? It's hard to beat the look of the dual, I guess I'm a little old school there. How about a couple pics of your system if anyone has some and can put some up? My mind could be changed. That would help me out a lot and those who might refer back later on. I want to put it on myself and don't want to get into a bunch of hours of making things fit, which is what I'm afraid of with any "non-approved here" system and especially a 3".
thanks. Joe

I can get a few more if you need them? This is my Dads car

2 1/2" ATR SS Exhaust System

Here's a picture of my 2 1/2" ATR system.......doesn't seem too hang too low to me. Have never had any problems or issues with ground clearance (or lack of).

I'm very happy with it!

hello; Don't like it. But now I have to do something about my gas tank and the dent were the spare lies. It looks like crap next to both of your pics. I especially like the look of zaskars dad's tank.
Opinions are like a-holes, everyone has one.
Keep up the good work.
