I'm hoping to be one of the few to post an 11 second timeslip on straight pump gas in the very near future with a PT61. I believe I have put together the parts to get it done. Now I just need for the tracks to open so I can test the theory. I have a Protorque 10.5" 3200 stall converter sitting in the trunk to help with the launch and efficiency before it locks and BFG D/Rs to go on as well. I can't wait to try and post results.
Should be no problem with the heads and cam you have. But with stock untouched heads and stock cam it wouldn't happen on pump gas.

I'm in the same boat as you Marc.....will be looking for that 11 sec pump gas pass once I get the engine back together and broken in. I went ahead and went roller cam/rockers this time.....figured I might as well do it now while apart. I figure with all the supporting parts, should run a fairly easy high 11 on pump gas......I hope....lol.

Sounds good man. I wish I had gone that route with roller cam/rockers, but I had just bought the level 3 short block, P&P heads/intake, PT61, FMIC all at one time and didn't want to spend the extra to have Grooms drop in a roller. I don't know if they would have anyway, but I guess I could have asked. Live and learn. It would be really cool if we both broke into the 11s on 93 octane. I have done plenty of searches and that is far from common without alky.

I'm thinking about moving up to a PT67 by the summer. I'm sure I could get good money for the PT61 I have since it wouldn't have more than 2K miles on it by then. No doubt in my mind that a PT67 at 20 psi wouldn't put it deep in the 11s on pump gas. We will see.

If the tune is right both of yall should have high 11s in the bag on pump gas. If my little 44 could pull it off with no alky i know that 61 can. I can't wait to get a PT61, maybe next paycheck. All these threads on the 6131 and 6152 are really getting me pumped up

65 lb inj. & chips

My injectors & chips came in . Going to install them today. My scanmaster 2.1 I installed yesterday, how should I tune it for pump gas. :)

Wow, that's a great accomplishment and you did some damn good tuning. 11s with a 44 on pump gas is awesome. You will love the PT61, especially with your setup. How do you like the 10.5" converter around town and efficiency when not locked?

I have a 3K stall in now and a new Protorque 3200 stall sitting in the trunk. I'm debating whether or not, while I have the transmission out, if I should attempt to rebuild it or just buy one from CK Performance. I get a bonus check in 3 weeks and I'm not sure if I should buy a Stage 2 200 from CK or buy the kit and build it in the garage. That's another topic.

Right now, this is a discussion about pump gas GNs running strong it seems. :D

Install and make sure that the BLMs are +- 10 from 128 to make sure there are no problems with the injectors or chip. Fuel pressure around 43 psi line off and take her for a spin. Watch the 02s and knock. I honestly try for 0* knock just to have a nice cusion if something does go wrong. My car on straight pump gas seems to like 780-790 02s but these cars may vary a tiny bit and a lot run bottom 800s just to be safe. Just keep an eye on everything and turn the boost up until the 02s get low or it knocks just a tiny bit (be careful as the line between knock and no knock is very thin on pump gas.) As soon as it knocks i usually turn the boost down a pound and that should be a pretty safe and fast tune.

blm's

I didn't get a chance to watch them,but my o2's around 820 w/ 0 knock & 20psi in 1st&2nd&19psi in 3rd & she breaks loose at 55mph w/255-60-15.I am very happy w/ performance .The install went very well.I have the fuel pressure set at 44psi w/ no vacuum :) :) :)

Well, I found the dreaded lobe wear on #3e with only 360 miles on the new flat tappet cam. I had a moment of brain failure and forgot to check spring seat pressure before getting the cam done. So, decided to not worry about that ever again, bit the bullet, and went roller. 206/210 from Full Throttle, 1.6 Harland Sharp rockers....peace of mind about not wiping a cam lobe.

Well, my GN went 8.0's @ 91 in the 1/8 on pump gas and hard radials, so it was close in full street trim. I figure the T is a bit lighter, plus it will be a lot stouter than EVIL was, so should be able to ease into the 11's on pump w/o too much drama. Hoping the iron heads will be enough, but if not, will scrounge up the money to go GN1's.....lol. I'm really gonna ask for a miracle.....I want to run 11's on pump gas and hard radials... . I know, I know...living in a dream world....lol. Would be awesome to drive it to the track, make 11 sec runs on hard tires, then drive back home....not to mention it would scare the crap outta the local Mustang crew.....LOL.

Tires are a safety issue.. while your spinning you can lose control of the car and not only hurt yourself, but someone else. There is no honor for being foolish.

Let alone blowing the tires creates issues with the ability of your 87 ECM to control fueling, and unloading of the engine. Both of these can put a nice set of French Windows on the side of your block.

Good luck on your 11 sec quest. Being safe is job 1.

I just like the challenge it presents to run quick on hard tires.....lots of finesse required plus the car has to work really well to put the power down. If the 60ft is bad, not even going to push my luck....that's just stupid. It's just a matter of knowing when to abort the run. The GN was actually pretty drama-free on street tires....quick hazing to clean them, prestage, stage, leave with 2-3# of boost, consistant 1.86-1.92 60's. It took a while to sneak up on what the car liked, that's for sure. Will be the same deal with the T no doubt.

Safety is paramount...which is why OG goes to the chassis shop in a few weeks for a legal bar and d/s loop, plus I will have 5 point harness' for both front seats. If I can't get Ol Gray to work on hard tires, no biggie.....drag radials are street tires too, and much safer... ;)

your combo sounds great i hope you get into the 11's on pump gas. I on the edge of the 11's on pump gas myself along with the radials. i have some old kenne bell roller rockers to put on the car this spring also. 1.6's

keep me informed on how ya do.

my best time on street tires and pump gas is as follows

1.81 60 FT

92.59 Mph @ 19-20 psi of boost
