I have a multi-disk 9" convertor in my GN now, gives good 60's but I hate the multi-disk lock-up around town. Thinking about going back to a 12" convertor? I keep reading about the red Stripe failures, whats everybody think, I need some suggestions. Thanks! I have heard about the DelTrans convertor, anyone run this?

I would say you should get something on the tight side of your combo. What Turbo are you running? I have been through a AC L/U 10" 3000-3200 stall that was too lose for street driving and my tastes. I currently have a Yank Turbo Thruster 2800 which is acting up so I am now going in with a Del trans 2800 while I send back the Yank. I have heard only good things about the Deltrans. The highest stall they can do is a 2800. If the Deltrans works for me as good as it has worked for other club members/friends I may just leave it in there.

HTH

ps. Let me know if you want to sell the multi disc. I or a friend may be interested in it.

Quick6, what don't you like about the multi-disk around town?

I'm trying to learn a little about the different convertors & their street manners on our cars. Thanks.:)

IMHO for a mostly street driven car the multi-disk (7 inmy case) is just to harsh when going into cruise lock-up. Even worst when in lock-up mode and it shifts from 3rd to overdrive, plus it puts a hard strain on the motor and mounts IMO. great convertor for someone who does more racing than street driving.
