I wanted some input as to what turbo to go with for my '87. The car has exhaust, 3" DP, headers, cold air, chip. Preferably to go with 009's

with 009s i wouldnt go bigger than TA49/ TE44 and actually id perfer even larger injectors for those turbos if pushing the boost on race fuel
and for street if torque converter is stock , the ta49

What torque converter do you have? Stock? What are your goals with the car? You can't beat the ol' reliable TA-49, stock appearance & works good with the stock D5 converter.

I'd have to say, if you don't plan on going bigger than 009 injectors, then either a TA-49 or a TE-44. 009 42.5# injectors can support 510 fwhp when maxed out. A TA-49 or a TE-44 will support 545-565 fwhp, which is more power than the 009's can handle. Have you done the fuel pump, fuel regulator and hot wire kit yet? What about a Scanmaster? Also, there's no reason why you couldn't go with 60# High Z Mototron injectors and a matched chip. They would definitely allow for a larger turbo. TA-49, TE-44 or some of the other dual ball bearing turbos that I've previously listed in another post, will work with a stock bottom end, and the stock torque converter.
What are your goals, how fast? Daily driver?

Go with the 60's, 3600 stall, ALKY and a GT67P. I love it. Drives just like a stocker. That's my story and I'm stickin to it. Honestly, you would be pleasantly surprised at how well my car drives on the street.

Check my site out below.

I am wanting to get to around a low 11/high 10's and still have it work great on the street.

I have the fuel regulator, but still have what I expect to be the stock pump. Also I have no hot wire kit or scanmaster. Is the scanmaster really a crucial part to have?
Thanks

60# mototron injectors and cpt66BB and add in ported heads ,3200-3400 converter ,about a grand and half for trans upgrades , good HD driveshaft and joints (dennys) ,aftermarket axles (30-33 spline),aftermarket studs wheel studs, c-clip eliminators , roll bar , sfi trans blanket , fire jacket ,sticky tires , good working footbrake or a tbrake to hold boost at line , good stretch stock location or front mount intercooler , alky or race gas and a second pump ,
and watch the tune and tune for no knock and youll be all set :)

besides scanmaster for tune youll need realtime knock info (led knock meter , audible knock monitor) and other equip like directscan (or poewerlogger) , egt , wideband

Although I would prefer a PT6776RH, pacecarta is correct with his parts list.
And don't forget that at that level, the Walbro pump, & hot wire kit are considered mandatory items. If you ran those parts without a pump and hotwire kit, I seriously doubt it would make a full pass before it went boom on a stock 20 year old fuel pump with shoddy to start with wiring from the factory. His list of parts will definitely get you where you want to be. Tuning will be the most critical aspect of making the power it will take to reach low 11's high 10's and be reliable and fun on the street. I personally would recommend you get the Scanmaster 1st and learn how to slowly tune the car with it. Then invest in a Power Logger for more in depth tuning once you get the hang of using the Scanmaster. Think of it like this, use the Scanmaster for on the fly, during the run observation of degrees of knock only, at the same time letting the Power logger record the run so you can review the information when you get back to your pit. The last parts in this equation would be either a Trans Pro Gen 2 with WB O2 tuning capability, or a custom burned Turbo Tweak race chip from Eric.
Remember, detonation kills these motors and the road you are taking has been traveled by many, many people on this site. We're all here to help.

Ditto that.
My car is a dream to drive with the PT6776 and Alky. With 275/60 radials, it will absolutely ROAST the tires from a 30mph roll in 2nd gear.

50's

Your running 50s with a 67 or you moved up to 60s just looking at your sig:smile:

Nope. I'm still using the MSD50's. They are 10-sec capable injectors.
If I could go back in time and do it over again, I would have just gone right to 83's, as eventually I'd have grown into them anyway. :D

Thanks tons to all of you guys for the loads of info. I will continue to use this board for all my tech as I learn more and more. Thanks tons to Pat, you are a wizard!

The parts needed seem endless. What are the positives of wanting to achieve mid to high 11's. What does the parts list look like?

11s

In spite of what some might think, you don't need to spend a pile of cash to go 11s with these cars. You can get there with your stock engine, TE44/GT3255, 009s and hotwired Walbro, a PAC alky kit and maybe a few other bolt-ons. If you look into the past, there are guys who have gone plenty fast with not a whole lot. The biggest factor will be your tune.

Did it

I don't look at the cost of my projects BUT I wanted to do it once and right I had the motor rebuilt by someone who knows the Buick 6. Added all new parts only part in motor reused was block and crank.

Not needed BUT SAFE

The above list as will be pointed out is not needed to achieve low 11 but I took this setup out two nights ago and the cars not even breaking a sweat and am running a street chip and is IMO running mid 11 at 19# boost with a little Alky spray to keep the knock out and am running 93 pump gas
I tried it with stock ended up blown head gasket broke tranny constant tuning so above is where I went Luckily I have a great wife and the kids are up and sometimes gone so We did some creative financing and got one nasty reliable ride.
