Hello. I just went in and removed my tensioner that was not suppose to be added with the Rollmaster. Have everything back together, and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas to fill up the oil pump, or prime it with oil before I turn the engine over. I tried an idea I read on a post and put a funnel on the top oil cooler attachment and poured some oil in....I think only a small amount actually went in as most of it leaked past the funnel. Any great ideas out there so I don't have to take the engine apart again?
Thanks!

If you don't have access to the oil pump gears so you can pack them with vaseline. (Like I forgot to do the first time) I rented (borrowed) a part from Auto Zone that fit down into the slot and ran an electric drill on it until it primed. I think the one I used was for a chevy. I had to modify it slightly to fit the slot. The drill has to run pretty fast. My cordless would not work.

I poured some down the cooler hose like you did. Then I hacked the handle off the longest screwdriver I had and popped it in the drill. Viola!

I used a distributor from a junkyard Buick V6. The screwdriver method will work but DON'T put any downward pressure on the pump, you'll gall the gears and bottom of the pump housing adding clearance you do not want! Be careful!!

If you use the distributor, chop off all that you don't need leaving only the shaft and put that in your cordless drill, my ½" Dewalt cordless worked fine. The direction is the same as if you were drilling a hole.

Just lube the gears during assembly and pre lube with a drill motor - NO need to pack the gears or pour oil down the cooler lines.

I borrowed a oil primer from my local machine shop, put one quart of oil in it add 20 lbs. air pressure hook to line by oil filter, when oil pressure gauge reads 20 lbs. she be primed.
