i was wondering if there any way, shift kits, tricks, whatever, to get a better third gear shift? i rebuilt my trans. about 15,000 miles ago, rebuild kit was from poston buick, upgraded the pump with CK kit, and hardened stator. The trans has always, meaning before and after rebuild, been weaker on the 2-3 shift than the 1-2. Oh and a while ago i did put in a CK servo, which is very nice 1-2, and 2-3 got maybe alittle better but now it is just dwarfed by the 1-2 shift! So thats a little history on the tranny!

what i basically want to know is, is there any way to make the 2-3 shift better without busting my head open on the 1-2 shift on the brick i call a head rest? boost valves, shift kits, accumulators? i hope my question clear:)

thanx

you shouldnt be getting a big pressure drop on the ratio change into third. The stock configuration leaves a lot of potential leak points. Most of us dual feed the direct clutches which makes the 2-3 change a much harder shift. You really need a billet shafted forward drum to do so. This requires tear down.

Ah, i see, dont really want to tear it down, just seeing if i could do anything when i put my new converter in since the tranny will be down. dont have the time or special tools to tear down, i did the rebuild at my school and we had a big bin of tools for the 2004r. if theres not really much i can do thats fine, i can live with it that way. thanx for the reply:)

I couldnt tell whether you had a recalibration kit or not from the original post. Id start with a CK kit if not. It has all the valves and new seperater plate.

nope, no recalibration kit! is that just a valve body deal for installation? it seems pretty easy reading the description on their site. thanx

It includes boost valves also. It is very easy to install.
