The tires are mounted on stock rims. Do you think that the 275/50/15 would make much difference? Or, would a 235/60/15 DR give me more traction that my 255/60/15 street tires?

I have new springs and shocks in the rear, airbags also. I have inflated the airbags, and the tires still rub in semi-hard cornering.

Please help, I need my traction back on the street.

Thanks

When I had stock rims, the 275/50s rubbed worse than 275/60s, I guess cause the shorter side wall made them buldge out more, I had to use 1/8" spacers, yet 28x11.5 MT ET Streets fit fine with no spacers. If you want to keep the stock appearence, you might want to look into getting a set of widened stock rims. For that size tire 8" rims would work great.

Are they rubbing on the frame rails or the fender lip? I have 275/60 drag radials on my GN with 7" TT2 wheels and the driver's side just barely rubs on the frame rail. Put a 1/4" spacer on it and it is fine.

wheels rub

I had the same problem with 275/60/15's on stock t wheels. I put the 3.5 inch bs weld draglites & it fixed the problem.

That rim is too small for the tire.
Like the other people said the 275/50 is wider.
A temp fix would be some wheel spacers.

I have those tires on my draglites with 3.5 b/s on a 15x8 rim no rubbing on the frame or lip with no air in my airbags

It's rubbing on the frame.

Where can I get some spacers?

Try any discount tire or performance shop. You might even try a big auto parts store like Pep Boys or AZ or Napa, they might have them.

Go with the 60s and wider rims, or spacers. The 50s(shorter sidewall) won't flex as much on launch(less footprint/traction). Get some Sticky Mickies. I've got 255/50-16 BFG/DRs on mine. Woulda/coulda/shoulda had MTs.
