FINALLY, an application of a BOV where it's really needed.

In all seriousness, I'm very jealous and would love to show up to work to that too. Have fun. If it wouldn't scrape, I'd have to try it at least around the parking lot or something. I'm sure the ride height is adjustable. I wonder what the tallest setting would get you for clearance? Hmmm...

Man that just beggin to be taken out to willow spring for a track day!

A couple we are friends with store current Indy cars in there climate controlled garage for Rahal/Letterman. The car is the only thing allowed in the garage. The climate control does the temp and humidity. I have always wanted to take the car for a drive.

A guy who helped developed the Buick Indy car motor also lives here. Can't remember his name for the life of me. He has talked to me at a few cruise in's and car shows. His memory is getting bad though. Every time he has talked to me he seems to never remember that we have talked before. I feel bad for saying that since I can't remember his name either.

Way cool!
Do you know what year these cars ran at Indy? I am especially interested in the cummins car, is it a Diesel powered car, or just sponsored by Cummins? TIA

Is that the 1987 Indianapolis 500 Winning car that was driven by Al Unser?

I remember the '92 Indy where Roberto Guerrero, (pole position) spun into the wall on the pace lap--Buick was making too much power!

:eek::(

Man, way too cool. Tom Sneva's car, too! What exactly do you, yourself, actually do to these cars?
No wonder you love coming to work. I would, too. Thanks for sharing the pictures, was real nice to see.

Are you allowed to sit in them just for the hell of it?

Ever started one up?

No but he's sat in them and made race car noises

Yes it is.

These cars were being juiced up (having fliuds put in them) and after a long process of turning the motors over with electric drills, about a milion checks and tests they are started and run for about 10 minutes.(with a couple of little high RPM revs just to get the guys in the rest of the shop worked up) Believe me, everybody stops what they are doing when one of 'em fires up.

These cars usually sit in the Penske Racing Museum here on the campus I work at with about 25 other cars, all of them race winners, most are championship winners.

Every couple of years the museum guys roll 'em over to the shop (in shrink wrap) give them a good once over, fill them with fluids, fire them up and then a select part of my team goes over them with a with a fine tooth comb and does any cosmetic work that might need to be done. It's quite a production and is usually a 3 day thing for each car.

Me, I'm in charge of the reconditioning arm of the entire operation. 14 dealers on one 45 acre campus.

And no, I don't EVER get to sit in them, I'm not that high up on the food chain. Besides, we would need a shoehorn and a drum of vaseline to make me fit. Although I did talk them into letting my son sit in a couple of them when he was younger.

Yes, it's a great place to work.
